    Can you connect via G? If not, do you have security enabled? If you can connect, who's router is it? How old is it? If it pre-dates the current Draft standard, that may be the problem.

    My old Belkin Draft-N uses an Airgo radio. Great router if you use an Airgo radio (Asus, Belkin, some Linksys, etc.) but won't support the newer Draft-N cards (Intel, for instance) at N speeds. The Airgo radios were left off of the newest standards.

    OOPS! Just re-read the original post...
    Were you able to connect at N before the re-install of Vista?

    Check these settings...

    Click Start Button->Computer->System Properties->Device Manager...

    Expand the Network Adapters node, double click on your wireless device, then click on the Advanced tab...

    Check the properities and pay particular attention to the 802.11n Mode.

    By the way, what is your wireless device? I have a P 171X FX. It comes with an Intel 4965AGN.

    I had a similar problem, I found that the gateway would only connect at N speed was to an "wpa-2 personal" "AES" security enabled network, don't ask me why, but I tried WEP, and unsecured and would only get 54.0mbps connections at best.

    Worst case scenerio, is set your router to "wireless-N only" and see if that works. If that ends up working for you but still need to have wireless a,b,g. I would recomend the linksys wrt600n to ya, cause it has the dual wireless radio bands, so you can have one N forced network and an everyhthing network.

    Do you have it on a 5ghz band or 2.4ghz band, I couldnt get a good N connection on 2.4ghz.

    Also, try switching to a wpa security, I get 108.0mbps with that, and everything else is 54.0mbps

    Not sure if this will help but if you have not installed Vista sp1 ,, AND you HAVE installed Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN latest driver ( 11.5.1.15 ) There is a Windows Vista Hotfix KB932063 you might have to DL and install to make it work properly ...

    I have a Linksys wrt160n working just fine without the Hotfix ....

    Good luck ..
