I have a P7811fx that won't charge anymore. I had a power surge a few weeks ago which wiped out most of my electronics. I thought the notebook was still good, however, after two days, I noticed it was just about to run out of battery while it was still plugged in. I tried re-seating the plug and power brick, but to no avail. I had a friend test the power adapter with a multi-meter and everything is still to spec. The green light on the brick stays green until I plug it into the laptop, I have to unplug it from the wall to get the light back on again.

Any ideas about what could be wrong and how to fix it would be greatly appreciated. I've been reading these forums off and on over many months, so I know this is the best place for feedback. Thanks in advance!

Before you do anything else try unattaching the battery and unhooking the AC. Hold the power button for 30 seconds. Re-attach the AC+battery and see what happens. I had a random problem like this a few days ago and my Battery wasn't charging for some reason. Doing this solved it for me.
