The T9800 is the fastest choice of the two, yes? Why would I not want to go with that choice? On eBay from the extremeprocessor guy they are very close in price. Thoughts?

    Thank you!

The P9600 should be cheaper. Also the P9600 gives you more battery life.

I would always stick with a P but that is my personal choice because I need the extra battery life which is I think about 10-15 minutes on my machine comparing to a normal T.

What laptop do you need it for? your P-7805u?

If you sit next to an power connector all the time, I think T9800 is better, as it get things done quicker; where as the 10W difference is pretty much meaningless unless you carry a DTR around powered by battery.

Also consider how much power your other components need. If you have 2 7200RPM drives, a blu-ray player, external keyboard and mouse combined with 4GB of ddr3 ram and a 9800 video card, that draws a lot of power. The power supply is only rated at 120W so by sticking with the p series processors it will help make sure you're under the 120W limit. If you only plan on having one hard drive and only use an external mouse then the extra 10W of the t series won't hit you too hard. Perosnally, I'd look real hard at how often I'm on battery and if I routinely go below half battery life more than once a week I'd get the p-series. If you rarely go on battery then get the t series.

But that's just my 2 cents.

Yes, looking as possible upgrade in the 7805u. Hoping to increase performance in Everquest 2, along with LOTRO.

EQ2 seems to use old enough technology that it is more CPU intensive rather than GPU.

Is the 9800m GTS being limited by the CPU right now? Will any of the CPUs catch up to where the GPU becomes the bottleneck?
