    password problem

    I have a Gateway ne71B and fired it up this morning. the security screen came up normal and the curser was blinking waiting for my input. But when I typed my password the curser continued to blink and would not accept my input( typed password) I pulled the battery and let it sit for a wile and tried again and the same issue, help!
