Hi! i just got a gateway laptop(ebay) p-6831fx and , i have run futuremark and some games (windows xp) and everything works fine.
    no shutdowns,restarts or bsod's.
I'm only concerned about 1 thing.
inside the laptop randomly i hear a noise, i THINK IT COULD be the second fan (the one on the right) but the sound is not the normal spinning sound. the sound is like when you spin a wheel that needs grease (hope i made some sense)like i said the sound is random
    Any ideas?
    thanks for the help!

BTW what software do you guys use to monitor temps(cpu,hd,gpu, chipset, ram)

Take the cover off and check the fan, maybe clean it with a q-tip or compressed air but dont spin the fan to fast will damage it if you spin it to fast.

Use this program to monitor temps.

It may be CPU. To check this, load the processor with Prime 95. To monitor the temps get HWMonitor.

    +1.
When the fans are clogged with dust, they sound different or louder.
