sorry for title i meant fx p7811 lol.

still avalible? cant find it on best buys site. also some questions

1) do all systems have temp issue? what are the chances?
2) gateway. i never really liked them because one of thier budget laptops died on me after 9 months. have they improved?
3.will the price drop?

1) No. Only the vocal minority report here generally. Low chance of having a temp issue. Also, don't get caught up on the P2887 vs. P2888 serial number arguments....they're ridiculous.

2) I like mine and it has zero issues. It is what it is though: a great value for your money, but along with that comes a small risk of quality issues.

3) Not unless they start running refurbished models through TigerDirect or CompUSA

1) No more than usual. And a Consumer Reports study says that 20% will require a serious repair at some point. Sadly, this is about the industry average for laptops.
2) I don't know if they've improved but the 7811 gives you alot for your $$
3) If you go to individual BB stores, you may find them for under $1100. Since it is an outlet item, each store sets its own price, but once they are gone, they are gone.

 

Spoke with a manager at westbury NY bestbuy who said they've been clearance out the Gateways and haven't received any type of gateway notebook in a while. Could it be Gateway was dropped/froze for a bit?

2. my 6831 is aging quite respectfully, still with the os installed by gateway zero issues.

btw newegg is selling the gateway 7801u, which is a slightly upgraded 7811.
