    im wondering if I have to dl and install the drivers from the stickied thread before everything will work properly.

    Like my headset doesnt work when i plug in the headset and mic cords, will dling and installing the drivers fix that?

    My first 7811 got returned BB said "Faulty Hard Drive" really i just think they couldn't figure it out. it BSOD a couple time and had incredibly slow download times is why i returned it. Everything worked straight out of the box for my current 7811 just took a lot of research and effort to get it working the way i wanted it to.
    Reinstalling the drivers is a good start. also check to see if your headset/mic is set as default.
