Go there and select nVidia.
Pretty much everything should be on Application Controlled except for a couple of options.
As for vSync, you can force it on, I personally have it off as I don't notice the tearing. -
What should I change if anything for best performance:
Anisotropic filtering-> application controlled
Antialiasing -Gamma correction-> On
Antialiasing Mode-> Application controlled
Antialiasing Setting-> Application controlled
Antialiasing-Transperancy-> Off
Conformant texture clamp-> Use Hardware
Error reporting-> Off
Extension Limit-> Off
Force Mipmaps-> None
Maximum Pre-rendered Frames-> 3
Multi-Display/Mixed-GPU acceleration-> Single display performance mode
Texture filtering-Antistropic sample opt-> Off
Texture Filtering-Negitive LOD Bias-> Allow
Texture Filtering-Quality-> Quality
Texture Filtering-=Trilinear optimazation-> On
Threaded Ptimization-> Auto
Triple buffering-> Off
Vertical Sync-> Use the 3D application setting (3D setting is set to max quality rather than performance) -
i was noticing the middle of my screen kind of tearing when i play games like
tf2 of battleforge
i didnt know what it was so i just turned on vsync and volla -

No love? ; (

For me personally, I have:
Antialiasing-gamma correction: off
Antialiasing-transparency: supersampling
Max pre-rendered frames: 0
Texture filtering negative LOD bias: Clamp
Triple buffering: on
As for vsync, you'll usually set that within each individual game. I also like to turn it on to get rid of screen tearing, but for extremely gpu-intensive games like Crysis, I leave it off. -

Should provide slightly better image quality, at slight expense of framerate (especially the supersampling aa transparency).
By the way, I used to have a MSI-1029, what a piece of crud. -
Ha...ya the battery blew among others...I liked the X1600 in mine though...thought it was da bomb..until i couldnt play Riddick...this 9800M GTS take a crap sandwich on that X1600! What didnt you like about the 1029?

The X700 in the 1029 was serviceable (for its time), but my biggest complaint was the fan noise. When I was idling on the desktop or doing some light browsing, the lowest fan noise has a sort of "rattle" to it. I can more-or-less tolerate the constant "whir" that most fans make, as it drones into the background, but when the noise is more distinct it annoys me to no end. When under load (like gaming) the rattle cannot be heard, but the full tilt fan noise presented its own problem.
Also the glossy screen had poor viewing angles. And the keyboard keys had poor response and feel.
recommended nvidia control panel settings?
