I have a p-7805u in which I want to replace a p-7811 screen into it so I get the WUXGA resolution. Is this possible?

Yep, its a direct drop in replacement

very easy to do

Links to specific screen replacements would be handy. (I know, search is my friend) But if you have them handy?
I've considered replacements before but can never decide on how to determine a good source. -
I was thinking about this one on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-GATEWAY-P78...in_0?hash=item20acb6605f&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
For 139 dollars I think it's a rather good deal since my WXGA+ lcd for my p205 Toshiba costed nearly 350 dollars. NOw the problem is whether I should buy this LG lcd or the other AUO lcd... -
thats the one i bought and you will need to modify the frame around the screen a little to make it fit. it has tabs on the top that aren't needed and need to be removed. and the bottom has an inverter on it, even though the auction says it doesn't have an inverter it does. just not the correct one for our laptops. you have to remove it.

hmm...
any way to get one of these to work as an external monitor?
i want a 1920x1200 external monitor....but the smallest i can find is 21", i would rather have all my displays the same size =P -

I'm still searching around looking for reviews and I'll probably end up ordering from Gateway if I can't find anything. -

yeah they are spot welded on so need to be gently pryed off using pliers perhaps.

mine had one dead pixel, it was a great looking screen though... the viewing angles were way better than the 1440... and i cut the tabs off of it... if you leave them on the bezel will bulge a little and the lid won't close properly... its not a big deal though -
Anyway regarding the screen itself I am not sure what to say. I have never seen another Gateway laptop before so I don't know if this LG screen can compare with the LG screen that most p-7805's have originally. I do not think this LG screen I have is OEM for this computer because of the two brackets at the top of the screen that should not be there, as someone else earlier mentioned.
However, if I compare this to my OEM AUO screen......this screen doesn't even compare. It's relatively horrible. I didn't get any dead pixels or anything; the problem was that the contrast of this screen is very very bad. Everything looks washed out and bright. It's like it has the brightness level set all the way to 100%, although nvidia control panel says it's only at 50%.
I heard from some people that the LG screen supposedly had "color accuracy" while the AUO had "better black", but if this is what color accuracy is all about, I would never buy another LG screen again over AUO. If I was to make a comparison, the AUO has better black levels than the LG screen has better "color accuracy". I must admit the wider viewing angles are great, but it just doesn't compensate. I really regret breaking my old AUO screen...
I looked up a lot of screens, but the only one I found who had an AUO screen for sale was this guy (I emailed him):
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130331127324&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:US:1123
He has LG, SAMSUNG, and AUO screens, so you have to email him specifying which screen you want. If you are planning to buy a screen replacement, I highly recommend this AUO screen, despite the extra 65 dollars you have to pay (only reason why I didn't buy from this guy in the first place); it is definitely worth it.
Still, I am satisfied because I managed to fix my lcd problem without having to call a technician and without anything breaking. Albeit lesser quality than before, at least it works. -
Thanks good info.
