then spend twice as much for minimal performance gain, honestly we have the top end. 256bit is all you need, shaders def help but the main limiter at this point is still memory bandwidth.

Gateway are sticking to budget gaming systems, I doubt any of the 10th generation nVidia cards are going to be considered "budget" GPU's any time soon. I'd say winter 09 or Spring '10 at LEAST.

i hope you know that they are still based on the G92 core, you wont see that much of a performance boost, say 15% tops at most. i will be sticking with my 6831 from ebay for sometime, if i want more power i will just overclock the gpu core and/or memory.

Yeah no point in "upgrading" really. gains will be minimal. I plan on keeping my friend for 2-3 more years until i have trouble running new games at lower settings.

Anyway if you got that much money to throw around and care that much about performance you shoulda got a sager or something SLI/Xfire

yeah Nvidia pulled another fast one. its based on g92 core. ie same as 9800gts.
i would not worry about upgrading until dx11 cards in mobile form appear . probably some time next year.

Probably don't even have to worry about it until the new consoles come out...

i would like to see gateway release future models with option for upgradable gpus; albiet it could be a double edged sword (jacking up the price)

im glad to see nvidia has slowed down the new gpu trend over the past year. for a while it was getting ridiculous with new cards every 2 months.
