this is a great laptop but i have some questions
1. why is my screen so bright?
2. why do blacks not show good?
3. do i need to upgrade my graphics card is or it the lcd?
-
Press and hold the blue FN key and tap the up or down arrow keys to make it brighter or darker
This will probably solve the blackness issue. -
i did that and that blacks still look very bright for some odd reason.
when i look at it from the sides it looks like great but when i look at it dead straitght it looks like it too bright or rather blurry
basically the blacks dnt show up as black.
they show up like a light screen on top of black
i think i got a bad screen. is there a way i can tell?
do u need the batch number? -
Go into the nvidia control panel, then to the "adjust desktop color settings", then mess around with the brightness, contrast and gamma settings (meaning lower them).
-
i did that but i dnt think its the card.
ima try installing the new drivers.
i just found out its an AUO SCREEN is that bad?
cuz it seems like it is
my current setting is
gamma 0
contrast 100
digital vibrance 50
brigness 50 -
I have the 1900x1200 aou, here is what I did and it helpd the blacks alot, I took a microfiber cloth and just applied a little pressure and ran it all over the screen a couple times and that seemed to take care of that issue.
-
Contrast 100 is waaaaay too high. Lower everything down to like 30-40ish and see how that looks.
-
it looks better but it not what i was expecting.
i think ima return it and see if i can get one with an lg screen.
thx for ur help dude. -
and how does that help?
-
My Video settings;
Digital Vibrance 45
Contrast 95
that's it -
Did any of you also find that running the screen for a few days also helped it settle in?
-
ill let u kno in a couple of days.
so far it gotten better maybe i should see if there is pressure behind the screen -
My settings are:
Brightness: 50%
Digital Vibrance: 45%
Contrast: 50%
Image Sharpening: None
Gamma: 50%
Makes my desktop wallpaper look good
-
ok i found the word to describe the way my screen looks. it very grainy as if there is something making it look unclear(like an anti glare cover or something)
should i take it bak? ive only had it for a day. plus when i got it it looked like it had already been opened....? the date of manufacture is 2/26/2009
the screen is auo 6287. -
If you haven't installed anything I don't see any reason to not exchange it if your not comfortable with the way it looks. Personal opinions differ from person to person, if you don't like it, exchange it, and if the next one is the same way than thats just how the screens are and you just simply get a refund for that one and buy a different model
(Also if you've installed programs and such, bestbuy requires you to return the system to how you got it I believe so just system restore or something and delete any data) -
ok thx man i guess thats wat im gona do. it a great laptop though but it seemed like someone had it befor i did and figured out it wasnt 19x12.
the screen isnt cutting it for me but maybe it because i dnt like glossy screens -
Look at the display model. If it si he same resolution and you still do not like it just get a different laptop. If you like it and it is the 1920x1200 get them to give you that one.
-
when i was there the display model would not even boot into windows. it was always on the loading screen. it kinda scared me away from buying the laptop, but i got it ne way.
-
You dont have to restore. Geek Squad does a clean install regardless. And they are very glossy screens whether 1920 or 1440. If your blacks look bright/grayish you can use a microfiber cloth and wipe from left to right to remove any air in between the screens. The air bubbles seem to create a fuzzy white ish kinda look. That helped for me
-
Yea, I get a "white cloud haze" in the upper left quadrant of my screen. I can smooth out the "air bubble" but it returns to the exact same spot after a few days. I just have to repeat the process.
so i bought the p-7805u and wow
