crysis is really frustrating me....a lot!!!
okay, so here's the scenario. I have the 7811 fx. I get good average scores with 3dmark06 (8500), and all games run great on it...all games that is, besides crysis (or more specifically, crysis warhead). I normally have had settings set at all high, and a resolution of 1280 x 768. Which the 7811 should totally be able to handle with an average of 25fps, right? NO, not my compy! i'm getting averages around 18 fps, at thats at the really calm areas, in the snowy icy levels, I get averages of about 10 fps!!!! so here's the deal, i found a sort of fix. I tried using a custom config (would post link, but i don't have enough posts yet) I copied, and suddenly fps was back to normal (i say back to normal because when i first tried the crysis demo i was getting fps of around 30).
But here's the strangest part. If I start up crysis with this config, and then switch all the settings back to gamer, I get awesome performance! But if remove the config, and then switch to gamer, i get crappy performance. Needless to say, this was all just pissing me off, so i just decided to reinstall. I did, and viola!!! problem solved, i got great fps!!! the first time. Then i quit, and tried to play again later, and the performance regressed back to crap.....

anyways, this is really pissing me off, and any help would be incredibly appreciated...my best guess is that the gpu or the cpu is being throttled or something, but all my temps are great.

On the taskbar, the little battery indicator has a switch to POWER SAVER, HIGH PERFORMANCE, BALANCED.
    Did you pick HIGH PERFORMANCE.
Also in the nvidia control panel make sure its set to PERFORMANCE and not quality.

Download gpu-z and cpu-z and run them in the background when you game. What gpu do you have? You'd need a pretty good one to run crysis on all high!

AHA!!!!!!! another clue to the puzzle!!!!!! okay, this could really help me figure this out. I ran the benchmark for crysis (not crysis warhead, although they both suffer this performance issue), and the framerate was awesome!!!!! well, it wasn't amazing, but it was what i'm supposed to have....so whats going on here? something in the booting of crysis is screwing it up!!! why do the benchmarks work great, but the game doesn't?!!??! please help me...anyone, i really need to figure this out, or i'll go insane....

also, if you have no clue as to the solution, could you point me to another forum that would be better at answering this....but i trust someone here can help me.

go to my thread where you can use the warhead engine. it will run a bit better. it will glitch the first time throught but after you play the game over again it will have loaded all the diffent shaders and other rendering problems will be fixed. Try it and see.

ok, well I just got fed up with the problems, so against my instincts, i formated my compy...it all went will, and i want to give a HUGE thank you to ashura. Without those drivers, i would've been screwed. Anyways, i reinstalled both crysis, and crysis warhead, and they both run great now....
