Well, it installs easy enough, but windows will crash before ever reaching the desktop. If I run recovery or bios it will run indefinetly.
Any ideas?

A little context to set the stage wouldn't hurt. Is this a new CPU that you just installed yourself?
-
Yes I installed it my self. and the bios recognizes it as a t9300 @2.5GHz
-
did you apply new thermal paste? why don't you try to reinstall the cpu
-
I highly doubt he would have installed the CPU without new thermal paste.
-
Why would intel's PITA to remove paste have caused it?
-
yes. its probably thermal shut downing every time you try to boot LOL!
-
Damn. I stand corrected. Maybe he didn't.
-
What did you mean by Intel's PITA? Did you remove the old thermal paste from the heatsink assembly and apply new thermal paste to the CPU when you put the new CPU in? If not, that CPU is heating up probably pretty badly right now.
-
And PITA = pain in the arse. -
Exactly, it only crashes once I try to get into windows, otherwise it will just keep on runniong.
And it's not windows, I reinstalled the t5450 and it's back to normal. -
I wouldn't say your mistaken as it could go either way, but from what I've seen, while in the BIOS the processor isnt under any strain and thus could probably run with absolutely no heatsink and not crash. It'll throttle itself to like 200mhz, but it should still run. Now, have it add 2+2 with no HS and its all over.

If you have access to another laptop, you might want to try the T9300 in there.
-
Fraid I don't.... I just can't get the stock gunk off, alcohol isn't doing it, and it's eaten two metal objects already. WTF do they put in this stuff anyway?
-
You're gonna laugh, but it works every time. Baby Oil. Just make sure to take some alcohol to the heatsink afterwards to make sure you get all the oil off and don't go crazy with the stuff, just put a couple drops on a cloth, a little goes a long way.
-
a) oil you get from babies
b) oil you get into babies -
Now I'm crying that we haven't had any of that for almost 15 years
-
LOL. I'm dead serious too. That stuff should be sold as "Magic Everything Remover"! It removes sticker residue, gum, thermal paste, baby poop, you name it! In fact thats what I had to use to remove the stock thermal crap off the T-1631 CPU and Heathpipe I was fussing with a week ago. I specifically went to Wal-Mart to buy some for that reason! lol
-
ANYthing else, cause I don't have that atm.
-
Not right off hand. Actually, there is one thing. The acetone in fingernail polish remover is pretty good at removing gunk, but im not totally sure I'd want to put that on the processor core and/or the copper heatsink.
-
I can just picture you in line at walmart with no baby in hand and the only thing your buying is baby oil . Blank stare from the cashier .
Cashier " Will that be all Sir"
You "Yep thats it"
Cashier "have a good night sir"
You "Yep its gonna be a good one " -
@ Quadzilla.

i've always just used alcohol and it got the stuff off fine.for the thick stuff i would take a small flat head screw driver and get under it a little and it would come right off.

Baby oil + Whiped Cream + Cig's = Embarassing moment in my life.
Its amazing the things you will get for the baby and the wife and NEVER realize it until its to late. Ran out of baby oil for the daughter, the wife needed whiped cream for pastries she was making for a family get together the next day and i ran out of smokes... oh the misunderstandings that ensued
Now back to the topic.
Goo Gone will take the goop off, but your going to have to make VERY sure you clean the surface with alcohol afterwards... but i wouldnt try anything on the CPU except alcohol (91% or better)
But i think the CPU might be bad. Usually a cpu will either work or not, its kinda weird that it will run BIOS but not windows. BIOS runs off your lowest multiplyer (if i'm not mistaken) So you might have some bent pins somewhere on the CPU thats screwing it up.
Can you post a picture of the CPU? (pin side mostly) -
When I was researching my CPU upgrade, I came across a reference to a "bug" in the t9300 version before the SLAYY. A software patch was required to address this bug. The SLAYY resolved the bug.
Some of the CPU's I found weren't the SLAYY but another version instead. Anyone hear of this? Am I nuts?
t9300 is fussy
