I was looking through other posts on this topic, but still didn't really get enough info to make a decision. I am deciding between a t9900 and a x9100 for a 7811fx. I guess my main question is how hot is the x9100? If i overclock to 3.6, will I most likely be getting dangerous temps? I know there are p series owners here with the x9100 overclocked to 3.6. How is that working for you?

I guess in a nutshell I am wondering if the risks of the higher temps outweigh the advantage of the higher speed.

    Thanks

It has been stated before that a T9900 and a X9100 will run at the same temps at the same clockspeed/voltage. My X9000 @ 3.6/1.375v under load is around 78c but stress testing can push it into the 80c range.

The C0 X9100 is much worse than the T9900. Buy the E0 X9100.

Umm, there's two different versions of X9100 available?

i have one of these myself; it's an E0 engineering sample. Although i am not sure if i received a botched CPU or my heatsink has gone bad, given that i idle at around 44C at startup. Temps soon settle at around 60C idle @ x6.0 multiplier on 1.050v. Everyone else seems to idle at 28C-29C. Under load @ 3.7GHz on 1.362V, i hit temps of around 93C. On 3.6GHz with 1.300v, 88C.

nothing to change in bios. JUst open up notebook, swap over chips, slap on some decent TIM compound and boot up again.

Everything should be detected automatically. If not, go to control panel>device manager and manually uninstall your CPU and then force a re-detect with the "scan for hardware changes" function under the "Actions" tab.

What's the point of a X9100 or T9900 if neither can be overclocked on laptops?

X9100 can now be overclocked using software (ThrottleStop)

Ok, I see, I didn't realise this thread was about the p7805, but I guess there aren't many other gateway gaming notebooks that support those CPUs.

I would like to see how high someone can overclock with a combo of setfsb and throttlestop.
