So I took my first one back after it kept shutting off on me and got another one. One question....

WHY does this notebook shut off when I unplug it from the wall? And when I have it plugged in, it shows the laptop isn't getting any power (shows a red X over the battery symbol in the bottom right)

I have not tried to plug it in while it is on in fear of what might happen. Can anyone explain this? Anything I need to change on the power settings? Thanks....

Is the light on the power brick on as well? These systems seem to be well know for having bad power bricks. I still have not gotten my replacement.

I still don't understand why the system would shut off after unplugging it from the wall EVEN THOUGH it has over 90% power left still? Anyways, I will report back after I transfer this 13 GB file, don't want to mess with it and have it shut off on me during the process.

Okay, when I have the computer already on, and plug it into the wall, it accepts and displays the charge, but when I turn it on while plugged in, it shows no charge going to it, and if I unplug it while charging, the system shuts off. The light on the power brick is always on.

    > control panel > device manager > uninstall "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" and then Refresh then Restart. Check battery again. if this doesn't, possible bad battery or MLB

thank you Atmos, I will try this when I get home. I have noticed the system stays on if I unplug the charger from the computer, but shuts off when i unplug it from the wall. trial and error, I suppose. Thanks for the help!

Make sure your battery is plugged in.
