I have been given a Gateway ML3108b for Christmas.
It is loaded with Vista home basic which I intend to wipe and install XP pro instead (as advised here in other threads)

At present their is only 512mb of ram in it. Can any one advise on the best ram I should be looking for to upgrade the machine to 2GB? remembering I shall be using xp pro and not vista...

An EBay dealer suggested I could only use 'Corsair Value Select 1024Mb DDR2 533MHz SODIMM Memory' is this right?

Also is it possible to upgrade the processor for this machine?

Perhapse someone has a link to a service manual for this model - I have searched but cannot find one.

    Regards Gamma - pgj :)

do check gateway support and enter your notebook model.

it will say what RAM it supports. 2gb is the way to go but its alot for XP. 1gb should be enough

RAM manufacturer really doesnt matter, what matters is that its compatible.
