anyone have experience running vista32 vs 64 on their lappy? 3d scores the same?
3d scores as good as xp? (somehow I doubt that).
I guess it doent use a separate 'program files(x86)' folder like 64 does? doesnt it mean that is not running some kind of emulation mode? I have been putting of vista all this time and still would be if this new lappy gave me a choice  dont tell me about the xp upgrade, I cant get the audio to stay working. (tried rancid's fix over and over, rep to him but honestly I dont think its really a good fix)

dont worry about 35mark scores, they are only synthetic and do not relate to real world application

64 is much better, I have tried them both and concur 64 bit is more stable, and much quicker(when running in 64bit mode), there will be little or no difference when running in 32bit mode on 64.

its not just scores, games I play are better in xp, that's why I wonder about v32. Guess Ill just have to try it I dunno. I only play 2 games (freakishly) Enemy Territory and Enemy Territory: Qwake Wars. I dont know if there are any 64 bit games but I guess that would run better..I try other and new games but they never become permanent. I know ET is openGL and I think
QW is too. openGL is kinda an aging thing and I think it sometime works better on older OS's and Older drivers. I know for certain that ET runs way better on a 7600 gt with way old drivers. So I keep that old driver, its the last one before some big change. Its like 89.70 or something like that. on my 8800 gt the newer driver doenst hurt as much. anyway I would just run xp if I could get the friggin sound to work. (and stay working). but instead maybe Ill try V32 (sigh). my V64 program folder has nothing in it but what came with windows and I'm thinking few things would end up there for the life of this lappy.

Yes please try vista 64 bit.
    Performance Boost options:
    clean install Vista 64
    Dox 180.44
    Performance Nvidia panel.

The reason you seem to be getting better gaming experiance in XP is due to the fact that you are probably runnign DX10 in Vista and that takes a bit more resources to run.

XP is a bit friendlier to hardware than Vista is, but you lose alot of extras that came with Vista.

I'm jonesing for Win7... i cant wait until i get that loaded up in my 6860 :D
(2 days and counting if all goes well)
