Hi,what is the proper way to do this? With my old ati card you needed their special adapter, what about gateway? Or can I just use a cable that goes form component to vga?

    Thanks brickie

ATi cards were specially wired so that the DVI port could pass component video signals through their little plastic adapter. You might find a special box or something on eBay or google that can convert VGA to Component video. Cables do exist that have a VGA plug on one end and Component on the other but I can't guarantee that they will work and you probably have to set the correct resolution and frequency to be compatible with your TV/monitor.
