I cant return or exchange the laptop once its here so will the newer fxs have the same problems .
    thanks

sorry for the english as it is not my native language

If youre not able to do a return(which you shouldnt have to do in the first place) I would say hold off a while until GW gets the kinks fully worked out and enough people have stable machines.

That is, if they even bother to get the kinks worked out.

I would just avoid the whole line. See if you can get a 6860.

I would ask your friend to install and run futuremark 06 05 etc if hes tek savy, if the pc locks up he should return it etc. But if he knows nothing about tek then i wouldnt risk it.

Now we know the secret why Gateway can afford to sell em so cheap. They had to cut corners somewhere.

My P-7811 FX has been flawless since purchase on the second week of release. Only effort I had to put into it was flash the Bios to 9C.08.00 from the previous 9C.05.00

my 7811 is flawless... I did make an exchange but the first one was flawless as well. The only reason I made the exchange was to get the new bios

APC sells very good laptop bags. I have the 15 inch, and both the slimmer and the fatter 17 inch size. The fit and quality are very good. As of a couple weeks ago, they were even half price on their website.
