Does anyone have the same problem as me with the **** cursor jumping around the page like a maniac when typing? Upon some research I found that this is due to hypersensitivity of the touchpad, especially of the type with the vertical arrows. So the logical thing to do is to check for a newer driver at ure friendly computer dealer--Gateway happens to be mine if you haven't already noticed. Well, watcha know...there ain't one to download, period. Nor is there one for other comparable model (they all looked similar in my view). I contacted Gateway & I'm still waiting, and some more, for their feedback. At any rate, does anyone have da frigging driver? If ya do, either post a reply or PM me.

Thx for the reply but, unfortunately, I get the message that the (downloaded) driver for the touchpad is incompatible. I assume that it's not Synaptics. I should also mention that this driver you provide is the same "generic" driver found on the Synaptics website. Synaptics, on the other hand, encourages you to download their "customized" version directly from the manufacturer. But, lame as it is, Gateway hasn't felt the need to provide one...yet.

The driver that comes when you create the recovery disk is the Synaptics Touchpad Driver 7.12.3.
If this is any use to you I can try to send you the folder. It is about 15 meg so I would probably need to split it and send it in parts. -
just got to synaptics website and search for it. Or you can try their ftp.

Just to avoid any confusion, I should mention that I have Gateway 8510GZ notebook. But, then again, all the Gateway notebooks (at least the latest ones) seem to have the same touchpad as far as I can tell. So if I'm not mistaken, the driver for one notepad should in theory work for another.
Silvertip, I do want the driver. Please send it to [email protected]
As I have wrote in the above post, the driver that I got from the Synaptics website (which is identical to the one Optendo points to) isn't compatible or not recognized by the OS. -
Saliva, it is done. I made a zip file and split it in two parts. They were sent in separate emails to you.
Put both files in the same folder and open them with Winzip or Zipgenius. When you extract them you will get the full path as created on the recovery disk. Drill down and you will find the setup program.
Good luck. Hope these work for you. Let me know if you don't receive the files. -
who's got the **** driver for the touchpad
