    why does my m1617 always overheat and shutdown?

    as title, my m1617 always shutdown out of no where, i am wondering if there's anything i can do about it... one thing i notice is that the bottom part is a lot hotter than my other laptops i had before this one. i can really use some advice, thanks so much in advance

    Have you cleaned the dust out of the vents with some compressed air? Are the fans both working properly? If you have had the computer a while and this problem started recently, then it is most likely dust.

    I got mine back in Nov 2007, this past Feb, 2008 started having problems with shutdown, Tech Support, had me re-formate the compute, the hard drive was changed after that. Over the past 90 days it has gone in for repair 3 times. I just got is back 3 days ago and still the same problem. Gateway is now going to replace the computer with a like or better laptop. :confused: :confused:
