    From what I can see there are a few different NE56R variants. The one they specifically list is the NE56R50u.

    You should go to gateway site now acer linked somehow and use their lookup my serial number to match up your unit with gateway if it is a listed gateway product. Not sure if this link will help but try this link for serial lookup to find your model and make of gateway. Put your serial tag number in there and see if it located it on gateway site.
