So i am thinking about upgrading to win 7 i can get it for 29.99 because i am a student. I am wondering if there are any problems with the software. I read a few threads about it and i read good things about it and a few bad. so please just give me a little feedback on this operating system.

Make sure to get WIN7 Professional...it cost the same price. Plus you get the XP virtual PC feature.

Being that the WIN7 student deal is going to last till the end of this year...I'm going to wait for my purchase.

I can't find the Professional version anywhere. The deal looks like it's only for Premium. Can you post a link, because I would really love to get the Professional version for cheap.

Have Windows 7 Prof. personally, it is going fine here. The webcam isn't working, but I haven't taken the time to see if there is upgraded software for it; never use it.

And just an fyi, when you install it, you don't really have to backup your system. It saves most/all the drivers and what not. I didn't know this when I installed windows 7, and spend about 17 hours backing up my hard drive for nothing! (I have a lot of crap on here. . .)

(What happens, is it saves all your content to a "Windows Old" file. So you will have to reinstall everything, but the information will still be on the computer. So movies/music and what not can just be copied over into the new areas of your computer.)

I'm probably going to reinstall Vista before installing win7 anyway, just to get a semi-clean install.

Ditto. Been running 7 for over 2 months; my SATA port doesn't work, but then again it never did :( .

Yup. If you want to get off of RAID0 you will need to back everything up
