I find that there are less incompatabilities in Win7 than Vista. On my Asus EeePC the overclock utility would not work in Vista, but to my surprise it worked perfectly in Win7.

I'm also thinking of going to Win7. Is there a list of incompatible programs anywhere?

Until now the only program that i tested and doens't work is daemon tools, instead I using poweriso without problem, all the others the only thing I have to do is use the compatibility mode to install .

yea i have it installed also now, on my 6860fx the only problem is i have one device as unknown i think its an audio device, but my sound works fine. besides the mic boost that option is not avialable, but everything else works 100% times better then vista

CSS i used to get around 30fps on highest settings with 16qx aa and 16x aniostrpophic now i get around 90fps sometimes i even saw 200fps++

Windows 7 works great so far except with Everquest 2, I guess that is no surprise.

One of the major issues is Punk Buster and Windows 7, since its only a BETA OS. Thus expect PB kicks.

I had one of the earlier 32 bit pre-beta's on my laptop for a little while, it seems faster and better organized than Vista.

I have an ISO and Key for the Official 64- bit Beta but I have been to lazy to install and migrate to it so far.

I recommend Windows 7. It's much faster than Vista 64-bit
and all programs work fine for me.

Another thumbs up for Windows 7 x64 beta1. It is a much better Vista...how it should have been in the first place. Hopefully the upgrade price will be lower to reflect that (haha!).

Anyone noticed that sometimes if you load a game by clicking the shortcut it loads the game... but instantly minimizes the game to the task bar? Not a major problem but a pain in the a$$ none the less

That's the modem. You can install the driver off the driver recovery DVD.

Does the Windows 7 64 bit download have a time restriction? I am downloading it now and have a key code too. How long will I get until I can no longer use Windows 7 ?

    Thanks

I believe August 1 is when it will shutdown.

As to performance, Win 7 seems somewhat faster than Vista but not dramatic or anything.

so far i heard only good things about win7 and its only a beta. If vista sp2 wont change things drastically, i will definitely go with win7 final, once it comes out.
