    I meant 6860FX, not 50.

So, I've decided when I get my money together over this summer I'm going to snag a x7800 off of ebay. They're on average cheaper than the t9300.

So my question is.. it's unlockable up to 3.0 Ghz

and secondly paired with my 8800GTS will things become less choppy?

I play TF2 and at times that's choppy. So is DoD:S, but to a lesser extent.

Also, I hope ripping/encoding is a lot quicker too.

It made a world of difference for me. Gaming increased by roughly about 10-15%, encoding got a hell of a lot faster and overall the system was much snappier. Definitely worth the money.

^ would have to agree, overall much quicker in absolutely everything.

The only thing to make the system any faster would be a SSD, which are slowly creeping down in price.

yea just watch the heat on it. i once had it in my 6831 but its too hot for my liking so went with a t8300 instead. it might be 10% slower but the temps are much lower, ovrt 25C on average lower. my cpus hovers at around 56C undervolted to .9875 instead of 88C at 3.0 at 1.175.

Good to know. I use my 6860 as my desktop away from home replacement up at college. more portability than my desktop, and still has enough raw power to satisfy me.

It's definitely a great upgrade and gives the overall system a nice boost, under heavy load my x7800 runs at 60-64 C and right now its idling at 40 C
