I wasnt able to find comparable benchmarks for these two, so i'm coming to you guys for this one. Which one should I buy? They look about the same price on ebay atm and i need a quick cpu upgrade. the t8300 looks like a swift piece of hardware, but then x7800 is an extreme chip that you can overclock (which i have no experience doing, I'll have you know). Any thoughts or opinions? Thanks. :)

The t8300 will run cold as ice, and give your system a noticable boost in performance.

The x7800, will run hotter, but has the capability to clock to 3.0gHz (sometimes, not everyone can get it stable over 2.8gHz) and give a much larger boost to cpu capability.

Really its according to what your wanting to do with the machine. Do yo unormally run CPU heavy applications or is it just a general use computer that you need cool running and longer battery life out of?

i definitely see the 8300 for for under 150 on ebay. I dont know if the x7800 is the same way. Id get the 8300 no question if in theory they cost the same to tell you the truth. think about it, its smaller die and cooler and its 2.4 ghz, so its even faster until you actually overclock the x7800, which is already hotter.

no brainer to me. the .4 ghz make a difference in dvd encoding no doubt but not in games. what do you use your computer for?

    edit heres one for 200

I dont know what the actual going price on each is to tell you the truth. theres way fewer x7800s to find a bargain on, way fewer used ones from people upgrading

Ill just call the x7800 about 50$ more on ebay. If you are a big file encoder it would be worth it.

Awesome! Thanks for all the help guys. Rep.

I think i might go for the extreme chip as it has better performance out of the box and the fact that i barely rarely run my computer on battery without a cooler makes the 44watts on it not much of an issue.
