VRAM is also crucial if you're running on high resolution display like 1440p or even 4K

lite on is a rebrand i believe of the toshiba sandisk sort of ssd
there really are only 3 or 4 makers of ssd. theres obviously samsung and micron then the others are made by hitachi toshiba or nanya
then the different brands hook up one of those with a controller, and that is the whole of it.
mine has lite on 2, you can see my ssds in my sig i have the same 2 for my boot and then also 2 other for storage.
I plan to replace the lite ons with samsung, although the lite ons are very fast -
Thre are a lot more SSD's manufacturers than just 3 or 4. There are only not many memory chip manufacturers itself but companies like for example Plextor is buying memory chips, controllers and then writes their own firmwares that controls everything. This is the reason why there still is a large variety between SSD brands. The firmware program is really what makes an SSD tick.

Yes as I said there are 3 or 4 actually ssd manufacurers of the memory.
Many companies that put the memory on a board with a controller.
And because the 2 largest are in only a minority of brands sold all the others are actually from the other 2 which are Hitachi and nanya -
would you order an x5 again, known everything you do? I didn't know until I found your thread ( hard to find, but I typed support into search and found it. ) I got an aorus x5 v6 delivered today doa sending back now. I don't want to complain too early on but there doesn't seem to be the normal amount of information on their website, especially the support part. I also think their forum needs to be secured I was able to join with no email confirmation which is pretty scary. but I digress. it's certainly the best looking laptop I've ever seen, I just wish mine would power on. I also wish there were some technical manuals on the support site.
anyway I've written too much, the basic question is the support good or bad, I guess?

Honestly hard to say...I still have it and it works. The touchpad is absolute garbage. I've only used one other touchpad that was worse than this. The support I still consider pretty bad even after finally fixing the issue. I jumped through hoops just to get them to replace the SSD's. I should not have had to send the whole laptop in for SSD failures.
-
hmm, well, I tihnk you should send the whole thing in. but I think it should be a very quick turnaround for a brand that markets themselves as the top of the high end boutique laptop segment.

also does anyone know where to find a tech manual that explains how to upgrade the backside sodimm slots so you can get to 64G of memory?
