Dear Gigabyte,
In January you announced the Sabre 15, based on the Clevo N850HK1, which is set to offer a 4K/UHD display option.
These are PenTile (RG/BW) not-true-4K/UHD panels. Please do not source these.

- Samsung LTN156FL01/L02
I say this, because Eluktronics and PCSpecialist are already selling the N850HK1 with not-true-4K/UHD, specifically the LG LP156UD1-SPB1. We don't need another. We don't want our computers to render in 3840x2160, only to not be able to see the full detail. If there is an issue with the provided cable or mounting, as Eluktronics indicated in their Amazon Q&A, you might choose to determine which custom parts will need to be produced in order to make them compatible. Your track record for honest high-resolution display marketing has been excellent so far, and it'd be great to see the same with this.

Seconded, I'd love to see these panels in more systems.

gigabyte doesn't care because the majority of customers have the thinking capacity of a dead person

I'd say that they are thinking about other things and prioritize differently, not that they don't think at all. Not everyone buys computers for the same reasons/spec.Paull likes this. -
This is why I never even think about buying "budget" gaming laptops with RGBW Pentile screens. They are not worth it, and I doubt Gigabyte will invest more $ into more expensive panels.

Gigabyte has actually historically used true UHD screens, and marketed it. Which is why I have a bit more hope for this one.
The P35x UHD uses the real deal, and slaps a "REAL RGB 4K" sticker on it. They also seem to choose 3K 2880x1620 instead of the not-true-4K in other laptops. -

I think right now a lot of companies are thinking TB3 is not yet widely needed so you won't see it in these models for a bit. -
You would think that since Gigabyte is developing/has developed an eGPU solution, that they'd opt to give customers the option to pair their Aorus/Gigabyte laptops to their solution.
Otherwise, why bother even creating a product?Eason likes this. -

I believe their v7 AORUS models should have it, but haven't confirmed yet. -
Actually it is confirmed by an aorus rep on the overclockers uk forums. At least that the x5 v7 has tb3
-
That's good news. Hopefully this development trickles to Gigabytes laptop line, and soon...

Might not if they think it will drive AORUS sales. -
BU tpretty much every laptop manufacturer out there has TB3 ports on their latest models. There is really no excuse to exclude those.

And many of them have it only on their highest end SKUs right now. This is no different except that Gigabyte divides their lower and higher end by brand name. -
THeir current high end aorus models also still do not have it. TB3 is out now for 18 months or so?

Was supposed to be released with the V7s, but they've been slow to get new models to distributors. Happened with the V6 as well. -
P56 will have tb3

Matte-finish not-glued-to-touch-panel BOE N156QUM true-4K display variant spotted! https://www.notebookcheck.com/Test-Lenovo-ThinkPad-T570-Core-i7-4K-940MX-Laptop.211692.0.html BOE NV156QUM-N44 specifically. Previously I've only seen the BOE panels used in laptops like the HP Spectre x360 15t 2017 and Lenovo Yoga 720, where it's not just a standalone panel. Good sRGB too. This could be a contender for various laptops.

eGPUs are pretty much G1 from everyone right now, expect more from the next couple gens of both, but not as much right out of the gate.
Dear Gigabyte, Please Use True 4K/UHD in the Sabre 15 UHD Model.
