Finally got my new Aorus x7 v6...but can't type?

Everything fine then go to type and the keyboard just makes a tapping noise and nothing comes up unless I hold the button down for 10+ seconds. Anyone got a clue?

 

Update the keyboard firmware. That should fix.

Problem is I cant as I cant really type Is this normal? Is it a defective laptop?

 

Connect an external keyboard man. Try to update the firmware if it doesn't fix return the machine!!

I have ordered the Aorus X5 V6. Will get it on 25th. I saw a similar issue on the Forums in Aorus website.

Ah did they solve it with the firmware? So annoying its such a nice laptop too :/

 

The firmware is supposed to fix the issue. Try closing the fusion software. As u say if it works fine before logging in then it is a software issue

Seen your other thread where you mentioned that Laptops Direct were doing a good deal for this laptop. Did you end up getting the X7 V6 DT from them at the price quoted on the website?

Looking to purchase myself because the price looks good!

Hey! i ended up buying the FHD version from Overclockers uk. Laptops direct had terrible reviews with horrible customer support and lying about products. There's a good chance that DT is not a DT and rather the FHD version. I didn't want to risk it :/ Rather pay more and have better customer support. Although am now a bit worried about this laptop...

Its doing a factory reset and its stuck on 30% "resetting this pc" hasnt moved at all for an hour

 

Give it time.. make sure ur laptop is powered and please do not switch it off. U might have to reinstall if you do that.

Im finally back on and keyboard works but all the apps have gone such as the overclocking system. Basically a big reason to have the aorus

Unfortunately factory resetting will re-install base Windows, and not any Aorus drivers or software. All of those will be available from the link arvindr sent you. It bites that you were having that keyboard issue but I'm glad it's working again--I cannot wait for my unit. First impressions on the unit?

 

Ah lame...so like the smartcam thing I now cant get cos I dont have the code?

Literally haven't had a chance to try anything. It looks very nice though. But annoyed at the crap that it started with

Yeh will do once I've installed and sorted everything. I tried it with witcher but it seemed fine

 

Did the unit come with a small flash drive? It should have the drivers on that.

 

Hmm... This is not correct in my case. I messed up mine doing some manual overclocking and since I had nothing on it did a factory restore from the additional partition on the HD, it restored everything to factory including all the Aorus software.

Entionz is correct about the USB, it's in the box and includes all the drivers and software if you need it.

Oh how did you do that? I factory restored and everything was gone except the recycle bin. Annoyingly I've now installed all my files etc so the thought of doing another factory restore seems annoying. Is there any chance you could take a screen shot of all the Aorus apps you started with? Just so I can make sure I have it all? Also for the Smartcam is it true that we only get a trial?

 

I've modified my desktop so that won't help you much, but here is a picture of the driver update application which includes all the factory installed software...

 

For Graphics drivers download the ones on NVIDIA website, they are much newer and make a big difference if you play one of the new games.
Same for the LAN, WIFI and Bluetooth you can get a newer version from Killer website.
