    Hi All,

    I just bought my first gaming laptop --- a Gigabyte P25Wv2-SP2 (from NewEgg - GIGABYTE P25Wv2-SP2 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7 4710MQ (2.50GHz) 8GB Memory 1TB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 870M 3 GB GDDR5 15.6" Windows 8.1 64-Bit - Newegg.com).

So far I like it a lot, but am considering replacing the stock TN screen with a compatible IPS screen. I have looked at a few videos and it doesn't seem to be too complicated, but I wanted to get some other thoughts on the process. I've used HWinfo to identify the current screen as an AU Optronics B156HW02. I've located all of the specs for this screen from Panelook.com and entered this screen into laptopscreen.com, which has identified two different screens as replacement. (see B156HW02 V.5 Replacement Laptop LCD Screen From $66.99 Brand-new screens.)

At this point I am a bit stuck, as I cannot tell if either of the screens from laptopscreen.com are IPS panels or TN panels. They seem to be straight-up replacement panels, which isnt what I am looking for.

Main question: How can I determine whether a particular screen will be compatible with my Gigabyte laptop? Is it just same size, resolution, backlight type? What about power requirements?

If anyone has any recommendations for a compatible IPS panel to purchase for my laptop, I'd certainly appreciate hearing them. I've read good things about Samsungs, but don't know if they are an option for me.

Finally --- please let me know how easy it is to ruin your laptop by attempting to replace the screen. I'm pretty handy with computer stuff (I've built a few desktop machines) but replacing the screen of a laptop seems like another level. The videos look easy, but I'm sure it is not quite that simple.

Much appreciated in advance guys, looking forward to getting into the gaming laptop scene now that I've got a hold of one.

Do you have any videos on replacing the monitor?

I am looking for a disassembly video for the laptop.
