Thank you - not bad, this is comparable to some desktop systems!
Your GPU score beats the crap out of $5,000 Mac Pro with workstation graphics: http://macperformanceguide.com/MacPro2013-performance-Cinebench.html -
-
Hmm, that score is on the low side actually. Here's what I scored with my 4700MQ when I had it:
This is with 4700MQ maxed out on its OC bins (3.6GHz single core, 3.4GHz 4 cores, just like the 4860HQ at stock). It seems like you're scoring 10% lower than you should be, even though your temps are totally fine. Did you set your laptop to high performance instead of balanced power mode? -
could I manually control the fan speed or it is automatically?
=====
the gpu temp is very nice. but I'm a little bit confuse about the cpu temp. Could you try to repaste with some TIM like mx4 or ic7 for better result? -
Oh and I forgot to add, I would NOT recommend MX-4 to anybody given my own personal experience with it. Yes the temps are indeed very nice after a fresh repaste, but after just 30 hours of gaming temps had already went up by 3-5C. The paste has absolutely horrible longevity, so unless you enjoy repasting every month or more, use something else. Gelid GC Extreme would be my recommendation, but nothing can even come close to Liquid Ultra.
Given that the GPU runs cool, and Gigabyte put in a plastic "shield" to protect the surface components on the 4860HQ, I really think you should look into using Liquid Ultra on your CPU.flamy and hallengreenn like this. -
Is liquid ultra the best TIm out there? I heard it is 'hard' to apply tho...
Sent from my GT-I9300 -
I managed to get it to 661 cb, by removing alot of background services. However I can't seem to get above that whatsoever, will have to wait to Catfish take the test to find out if it's meant to be higher.
And yes, it's on High Performance, I even uninstalled ThrottleStop & XTU to be sure.
You can manually control the fans within the app called "SmartManagerV3", there's a tab where you have 4 options.
MX-4 isn't that good, however I have the Noctua NT-H1 laying around at home. :0
Hmm, so Liquid or Gelid, sounds interresting and from what I can read people don't complain about heat anymore afterwards as it's one of the best out there. -
Congrats !! any chance you have a package info with size and weight of the package ?
Thanks !

+ I really tried everything with overclockers UK. They really disappointed me with that whole "we can't ship to Israel because it's not on our system". What is their deal ? although I am just a visitor here so many people in this country would buy high-end tech and actually know what to do with it ... overclockers UK are missing a very good market and being kinda an&l about it.
If a country is not in your system either sell it manually or just put it in the system. Take my money, here's my address. Thank you and goodbye.
Still hoping they change their lacking policy about shipping to a country that's not listed in their system.

Uploading a first impressions video...
EDIT: nevermind, had to cancel the upload my internet is not fast enough, the video was too long. Will have to make a shorter, more concise one.diego-d likes this. -
Well faster ram can help a bit, but in my own testing going from 1600 to 2133 give maybe a 5 point boost at most. There's also Win 7 vs Win 8.1 I suppose.
It's basically liquid metal, which means it's electrically conductive so you need to be careful when applying. Also removing it is not the easiest thing, and it will leave a nice silver finish on your heatsink (doesn't affect performance in any way). But really once you've experienced what it can do for your temperatures, you'll never want to go back to traditional pastes ever again.
Longevity-wise Mr. Fox has shown that even after 6 months of hard benching the paste is still as good as it was on day one. -
So It sounds like there are some modifications that I should definitely do to this laptop once it comes in 2 days. I've got a few questions on how to go about these modifications:
In order to re-paste with liquid ultra would I have to remove the stock paste? Other than that I can watch how to do it on a vid or something.
Is it possible to set up a 1TB hard drive (that would go into the ODD instead of the CD drive) in RAID 0 with the original 1TB HDD inside the laptop? They are both 2.5" 7200RPM right?
I'd prefer not to have to underclock the CPU, but after re-pasting if it still isn't cool enough I guess I could do -80MHz.
Would it be worth it to exchange the Intel AC wireless for a Killer card? I've heard there are problems with the intel card but I'm not sure how accurate that is... Have you guys noticed any wifi issues?
Any controlled tests on the web browsing/word document battery life yet?
Finally, is it possible to get a third party compact power adapter like the razorblade's? -
AC7260 no issues... there were problems with initial launch

First impressions: looks cute, kind of sophisticated, light to carry around, gorgeous looking screen but small icons with need to run below non-native resolution in todays most demanding games, CPU runs hot and throttles some, GPU runs OK, lots of performance in a small and transportable package, battery life good when not messed up with running on dedicated GPU at non-idle clocks........ do you need a video!? Haha, if you wanna be famous...or infamous! -
Nice, thanks! But for my first time, I'll maybe try Gelid GC Extreme, which comes outnice in most reviews. I'm still a TIM virgin ahahaRobbo99999 likes this.

Also a solid choice. Yeah don't do anything you don't feel comfortable with, even Mr. Fox took a while to make the jump.

Hi, does anyone know what is the model of the power supply for the P35X? Thanks.
-
Does anyone know what software they were using to graph out all of the benchmark charts?
I'm guessing logging into a excel/csv file and using some tool to generate the graphs?
MX-3 and MX-4 have some unique properties. It's actually a good paste. You just have to apply more than usual. So not really sutible for mobile setups since there is no heatspreader. I've used MX-3 and MX-4 extensively on waterblocks and it always gave me good results. IF you do apply too thin of a layer and have uneven contact pressure, it does dry it quicker than usual.
MY go to paste now is of course the GC-Extreme. It's actually fairly nice to spread too. I generally prefer the line method and allowing it to spread naturally with the heatsink.
With that said, for those that have already gotten the lappy. Is it possible for you to head into the BIOS and check what the stripe size gigabyte is using?
According to the X7 Pro media sample, they are using 16KB stripe size, which is absolutely abysmal for SSD's. Switching to 128KB can net as much as a ~10% gain all around. ( You will need to destroy the array. I would also secure erase + over provision 20% if you are deciding to go this route ) -
The issue I had with MX-4 was it pumped out far too easily, possibly due to the much lower contact pressures in laptop heatsinks. I imagine it works with desktops because the mount pressure is much higher, typically at least 2x that of a laptop, so there's less of an issue with pumping out. Plus IHS provides much larger surface area compared to bare die.
-
Are there any resellers offering Liquid Ultra? I'm too n00b to try it
-
I've heard about some pastes drying out after a few dozen hours of gamin/heat intensive periods. Of course, in review this is not spoken about. They only review the performance directly after applying the paste.
Which brings me to the following question: how is the longevity of the Gelid GC Extreme paste? Will it last for 30 hours of a year? -
Haha, i'm also considering the GC Extreme instead of the Liquid Ultra. However it seems like there's still some temperatures to save by going the other way.. Hmm, what the hell, might even by both and take a test run on my desktop.
How many degress drop were you having with the jump from GC Extreme to Liquid Ultra?
I actually thought 64kB was the better allaround for SSD's :O That's atleast what I made my 850 PRO 256GB with. And those are fast!!
But here's a picture for you mate.

Logging into excel... I didn't think of doing that. That's an assume idea!

Has anyone who has received the laptop already tested PlanetSide 2? I wonder how itll run at native ultra with very high view distances and 40+ people on the screen (which is stressing the CPU a bit)
-
Owners of the laptop, how are the speakers?
-
It is not something you brag about. They get the job done, let us put in that way.
They can play loud yes, but they need some "deepness"/"bass" which they don't offer. -
I was in the process of making a video comparison between the laptop and my old Clevo but I noticed annoying audio pops while playing music on the Gigabyte. This, I found out after googling, was caused by high DPC latency spikes. I am now trying to figure out which driver is the culprit and exterminate it... so annoying.
-
Do the keyboard or palm resting area get warm during gaming (~3hrs) ?
-
@Cakefish: Have you had any troubles with optimus other than adjusting some settings in the nvidia control panel?
-

Might be the wifi driver, or the even Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver. I had to downgrade to version 12.8.0.1016 of Intel Rapid Storage Technology to make sure it was all in the green.Cakefish likes this. -
Not as far as I have noticed, doing COD:AW session ~2hrs.
Only at the top, the heat is.
I'm running the WiFi driver (17.0.3.2) and don't experience it. Try it, might help.

Thanks guys, I'll try it. I am absolutely tearing my hair out over this very annoying issue. Hopefully your suggestions work.
EDIT: I still see DPC latency spikes on the dpclat.exe software... not sure what to do... tried disabling devices one by one in device manager but that didn't do anything... what is causing this?! My Clevo doesn't have anywhere near as many DPC latency spikes.
2nd edit: both my Clevo and the Gigabyte are constantly in the yellow... they should be green, right? -
New review of Gigabyte P35X v3, on Thai site VModTech. It's a model with 3K screen and i7-4710HQ CPU.
GIGABYTE P35X V3 with NVIDIA GeForce GTX980M 8GB
Some benchmarks and temperatures (estimated from 3dmark graphs where available, these are stock voltage, original thermal paste, no external cooler).
3dmark skydiver: max CPU 91 C, max GPU 80 C
3dmark firestrike: max CPU 91 C, max GPU 80 C
3dmark firestrike extreme: max CPU 91 C, max GPU 79 C
They also ran a bunch of games at native 3K resolutions:
Metro Last Light (high): max 87.5 FPS, avg 51.4 FPS, min 22.1 FPS
Sniper Elite 2 (high, supersampling AA): avg 17.4 FPS
Sniper Elite 2 (medium): avg 33.1 FPS
Sniper Elite 2 (low): avg 43.7 FPS
Batman Arkham Origins (ultra, 8x MSAA): max 48 FPS, avg 36 FPS, min 28 FPS
Grid AutoSport (ultra, 4x MSAA): max 72.5 FPS, avg 58.9 FPS, min 50.4 FPS
Company of Heroes 2 (medium): max 54.6 FPS, avg 31.6 FPS, min 14.8 FPS
Total War Rome 2 (custom high): 45.6 FPS
Call of Duty Ghosts (ultra, 4x TXAA): max 46 FPS, avg 34.3 FPS, min 23 FPS -
Nice find! I've seen it earlier but cant read arab so skipped it...
So much AA tho in those benches. SSAA on Sniper elite 2? Really? -
Robbo99999 Notebook Prophet
Yeah, they should be in the green ideally, if they're in the Red then that's really bad. You could use Device Manager and disable various components one by one until you don't get any latency spikes - just to identify the culprit, then try the latest or different drivers for the identified component. (Ah yes, hadn't read your post properly, you've already tried doing that - hmm, I'm out of ideas!). -
LatencyMon tells me that NDIS.sys is the culprit. It is causing insane spikes in the red.
-
Robbo99999 Notebook Prophet
Did you try disabling the Ethernet Controller to see if that reduced the latency spikes? NDIS is related to networking apparently. -
Damn, my fingers are really itchy right now. Get the CF4 from OCUK, with HDD and two crappy SSD's and Windows (which i already have lying around) right now, or wait til december and get the Schenker model customized just the way I like it... Decisions decisions...
Lets see if my T7700 2.4ghz, quadro FX 1600M, 2GB RAM can run solidworks, which I will use next semester.

Anyway, my laptop do also carry this problem:
What I tried so far:
Upgrade/Degrade BIOS, (found it search that some BIOS have problem in W8) - This was not the case, didn't solve it.
Disabled LAN/WAN/VM Network cards - Didn't solve it.
Closed every process on my PC - Didn't solve it
Disable dGFX - Didn't solve it.Robbo99999 likes this. -
Link to where you can customise the p35x with Schenker? Having checked mysn.co.uk and .de, I can't find what you've mentioned. I'd like to be able to customise it too if possible. -
It's not up yet but the C504 will get the 970M & 980M. The only date I got (for UK) was before Christmas.
-
The P35 v3 is not listed yet. I think it will be the XMG C505. I am expecting it at late November.
-
Not that it matters, but that's Thai not Arab. Unfortunately, Babelfish doesn't translate Thai to English.
That appears to be the C4 version of the laptop, which is the one I've got ordered. I've not been able to locate the model and manufacturer of the screen. Does anyone know which 3K screen they are using?
I'm going back and forth between staying with the P35X v3 CF (GentechPC) and changing to LPC Clevo P150-SM-A. The big differences being Gigabyte is lighter with a 3K IPS screen and larger capacity battery. Clevo will have i7-9010MQ processor, system memory capacity to 32GB, and what appears to be better cooling system. I expect I'll be doing most of my gaming on an external monitor, but I'd like to be flexible. As I need to use VMs on my laptop, the extra system memory will be very useful. I've seen the GS60 3K and 4K IPS screens and they are beautiful, but I'm not sure it's my biggest need considering it's only a 15.6" screen. So many choices... -
Have you tried disabling both your wireless nic and your wired nic at the same time?
Have you disabled all power management features of your wired/wireless NICs? Are you using Gigabytes LAN optimization software (try uninstalling it if your are). Do you have your latest Intel chipset driver? -
I don't know what I did but the popping audio seemingly has gone away (for now). The latency spikes still show up in dpclat.exe and LatancyMon, but the music and videos sound OK now. I just kept on uninstalling and reinstalling drivers. I hope the issue doesn't come back...
Now, I've experimented with overclocking. +135MHz core and +500MHz memory ran fine in FireStrike - but here's the weird thing - it throttled no less than it does normally at stock clocks! And never went below stock boost clock of 1127MHz, even when 'throttling' - so why can't it maintain normal boost clocks constantly pegged when not overclocked? That seemed weird to me. Max temp 76°C using cooler.
