 REPOST from:
 [CPU + GPU Temperatures + Benchmarks] - Gigabyte AERO 15 | 7700HQ | GTX 1060

 [>>AERO 15 - Make Over<<]

 World's First LM'ed Aero 15?

BEFORE: Bone Stock out of the box.
 ![[IMG]](images/storyImages/rDRqT7e.jpg)
 * Luckily I took a pic of it with the phone. Can someone please run a Fire Strike Combined Test Loop for 30mins and post a screen shot? Thank you.

AFTER: (Stock Fan Profile!) Fans were not even on MAX...barely audible at only 32db.
 ![[IMG]](images/storyImages/RUS9S0K.jpg)
 * Granted I had the AC on today so the ambient temp was a lot cooler than normal at around ~20.5C/~69F, however, what matters is that the ambient was consistent for both runs, which it was. Also, I'm sure the temps will go up a few degrees on both CPU and GPU with long duration's of gaming and with demanding titles like BF1. Nevertheless, I'm pretty happy with the results.

 Aero 15 "Make Over":
 + Grizzly Conductonaut (Liquid Metal)
 + HS Mod / Balancing
 + HS Resurfacing
 + Heavy Tuning

Nice waiting for your Razer Blade Pro review too!
-
It seems like XPS15 has a better panel.
-

 UPDATE:

Guess what? The fans were not even on MAX in the "AFTER," test above!

That was only on the Stock Fan Profile!

It was barely audible at only 32db during that run, yet still managed to hold low temps.

Wait until you see what it does on MAX fans at 100%.

don't speak in term of color, but only pure response time (for notebookcheck it's a little better)
and I would like to have experience return from users (better if we can have UFO test and speedy fps in videos)
compare with aero 14 and xps15 will be the best
-

I'm a little disappointed about the 6 bit panel. I suppose it's 6bit FRC. I found a test that could show how well the FRC-dithering is working:

iunlock, could you check out the test? Thanks for your work!

You can't really say the XPS15 panel is bad just because it has slow response time. It isn't made for gaming in the first place.iunlock likes this.
-

 This is true.

The XPS 15 actually has the well known (to be the best in the market today) SHARP1476 panels and the FHD on the XPS 15 is noticeably better than the one found on the AERO 15, however, the FHD on the AERO 15 has pretty good color for what it is. It's an average panel with a hint of bonus for its color.

I find the AERO 15 panel to be a little blurry compared to the XPS 15's FHD. It's apparent.

 UPDATE:

The first 1 Hour and 43 Min test was done with STOCK FAN PROFILES.

This is with MAX FAN PROFILES:

AFTER-AFTER w/ (MAX Fan Profile @ 100%) Fans noise at typical ear level, 48db.

That GPU Temp is pretty good (very good imo) for a laptop this thin with such a small footprint.

psst.. any chance you want to sell this one iunlock ?

I think he plans on keeping it xD

Hi, first time poster but long time NBR reader and have been looking for a laptop for the past year now. This one seems to fit the bill. I am interested in same order as above but had couple questions. Maybe @GenTechPC or some of the other experienced members can chime in. 1) I saw the Coollaboratory liquid CPU/GPU option for same price as IC Diamond in the Spring Sale on the site and wondered which was more recommended considering it is the same price? I saw someone post somewhere else here in the forum's that the IC Diamond is not recommended. 2) maybe this is more of a GenTechPC question but is the listed LG display in the order correct and is it going to be X Pantone certified still? I think that's all for now, thanks in advance.scrod likes this.
-

Gentech suggested IC Diamond when I asked, but I am still considering the Coollaboratory as well. I know the liquid metal products have better thermal conduction, but there are presumably risks if the notebook flexes or allows the heatsinks to make contact with some other part of the interior. This could also be an issue if you ever open up the notebook, since any static or electrical contact with the heatsinks may be more likely to damage the CPU, and since it's soldered, that means a new motherboard. I'm sure with expert, manual application, the IC Diamond will be superior to the OEM automated paste job, even if IC Diamond isn't the best product on the market. I'd be interested in other opinions as well.

I wish we knew about the display, sometimes manufacturers have multiple suppliers so it's possible you might not even get the same one as another person that got one from a different batch.Last edited: May 6, 2017GenTechPC and Runningcount like this.

Seeing as an Innolux panel is used on this laptop according to the sample reviewed by Notebook Check, I wouldn't be surprised if Gigabyte stick to the manufacturer or even the same model taking into account that it's a Pantone "certified" panel. You don't tend to hear of very many Innolux panels being used on laptops these days from what I've seen.

Not only that, but going by the photos of the laptop itself having a Pantone sticker on the panel's bezel as well - it would be a case of Gigabyte mis-advertising the specs if they are using different manufactures for panels which are not Pantone certified (unless of course, every single panel they use despite the manufacturer is Pantone certified).

From what I've heard is how the calibrate the display that allows them to put Pantone certified....

Interesting... If that is the case then I imagine they have to use top quality panels in order to live up to the specification.

For instance I can't see Gigabyte using a low end panel similar to the likes of an LG LP156WF6-SPK1, it reminds me when I briefly owned the MSI GS63VR for a few days before sending it back - terrible display that ruined the overall gaming experience.

My unit from Newegg (US) has the Innolux N156HCA-EA1 panel. The panel seems perfectly usable but not remarkable to me (but I'm no laptop expert so maybe others are worse.) The Pantone color calibration is a color setting you can choose to apply or not; Gigabyte also provides several other white point settings with various blue light reductions to choose from. On mine I felt the Pantone settings did offer a noticeable improvement for watching videos. Also in my unit were the LiteOn CV1 SATA SSD and 1x16 GB RAM configuration. scrod, Runningcount and TyroG like this.

How do you like the laptop so far ?
-

if it is such an average display for FHD, I wonder if it's worth extra to spend for 4k screen. I'll be predominantly using external display anyway and I like this thin notebook when I go on travel twice a year. Besides that it will stay at my desk.
-

anyone found a place that has it in stock yet?
 newegg is out of stock
-
Newegg exclusive until end of May. They told me more will be in stock by Tuesday...

 Hey @iunlock

can you verify this "issue" ? I guess it´s software based, but will be weird ^^ does the keyboard has any key rollover or not?

So they guy from the video claims he can reproduce this (left ctrl + shift + n for example wont work) on this notebook in windows, linux, whaterver. Seems it´s based on the keyborard firmware? Can you reproduce on your device?

So for me that bothers me not that hard but maybe atm i dont know if i use those keys for gaming in combination ^^

 Thx
 aVa

Damn, that's a deal breaker for me. I use those kinds of short cuts often in Visual Studio and the like. Hope Gigabyte can fix it, otherwise they lost my business.
-

I think and hope it´s just a firmware thing, maybe we´re able create a macro for keybinds which handles such types about to fix that
-
Just picked one up from Newegg. Apparently they got one back in stock

Its not a keyboard issue, its just a combination that is not covered by the anti ghosting roll over.
-

I'm sorry, I'm not sure what that means? If I want to open a new window with ctrl + shift + n, how do I type that on my Aero 15?
-

I actually use it regularly.....not just for code but for VOIP input. Its my favorite key I use for remapping as its one of the least used keys in games (although some Single Player games does occasionally pause when I hit it lol).

 my preference has been:
 Pause/Break
 RALT
 RCRTL
 RSHIFT

Here's my conundrum when finding a key for all situations:
LCRTL - Commonly used in games
 LSHIFT - Used for typing...
LALT - Commonly used in games
HOME/END/PGUP/PGDOWN - Commonly used in windows / word / browser navigation i.e. doesn't work well out of game.
DEL - Obviously bad when typing and VOIPing
WIN KEY - Brings up start menu
 F1-12: Used in games
F13-F20: Requires direct input mapping so some full screen games fail to report the input
~: Used a console in many games

SO that pretty much leaves just pause break as my favorite VOIP button...

It seems stock in the UK is becoming a bit scarce since the release last week and those who took stock only had a limited number of them, Scan have now completely sold out, same goes for YoYo Tech who also stocked it and the only one left that has stock at the moment are eBuyer with less than 5 left.

The only thing that is holding me back from ordering is a proper real hands detailed review from a member on here or even a video review, and also waiting for Overclockers UK to stock them but they have no ETA of when they will be arriving yet shortly.

I'm also considering the new Kaby Lake Aero 14 but I'm trying to determine if it would still be suitable plus if I do go ahead I can get one delivered to me tomorrow.

 Liam.
-
I'd wait. Because the truth is the laptop sales in the UK have been put on hold because of an undisclosed "software/hardware" issue.

I was informed by my retailer (Yoyotech). Once they get the all clear. Sales will resume. Not sure why eBuyer is still listing it for sale but I've been waiting since Thursday for my machine.

Was due to receive it today but then got told the above from YoYoTech. Whatever the issue hopefully it'll be rectified soon and I can get my laptop!!
-

Does that account for the Aero 15 only, and not the 14? Doesn't sound good to me, and like you say that would tie in with something else I noticed with Scan yesterday morning - instead of keeping the laptop as an "out of stock" status on their website in the event that all the stock had sold as I originally thought, they took the entire laptop page down altogether and I was presented with a constant 404 error when trying to access the page. Bearing in mind that they only stocked the black version as well.

That's not good that you were waiting for your Aero 15 since last week only to then find out today that it's not arriving until further notice, especially as you've most likely paid £1900 up front for it too!

Edit - eBuyer now appears to be supposedly out of stock now as well, currently met with pre order on the laptop page.

Is my understanding that this was a U.S. only launch and a Newegg exclusive until end of May...

Your original post doesn't make sense though - there is no indication here in the UK that it is a US exclusive until the end of the month, also why would our mentioned online retailers list them with live stock figures?

 Liam.

Yeah tell me about it. I've been having laptop drama the past month. Had the XPS 15 and then decided to return it because of QA issues. Waited for the Aero 15 ordered it and now this happens. Not happy at all but what can you do. The halt only affects the Aero 15. I'm sure they're just being precautious. I've given them till the end of week if it doesn't get rectified by then I'll be asking for a refund.
