Hello Everyone,
This is the GIGABYTE Notebook team. Notebook Review was nice enough to give us a Company Rep. account on their forum.
In the future we'll try to chime in on topics we can provide input on, as well provide support advice or point GIGABYTE users in the right direction for a solution if there are issues. But we wanted to introduce ourselves first.
We're looking forward to getting to know you all better.![]()
Thank you,
GIGABYTE NB

Thanks Gigabyte, and we're glad your here. As you can see, we have a very passionate group of owners, so it'll be good to have someone here directly to help out. Be forewarned, I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of questions here about the Skylake refresh... And the generation after that, and after that...
-
Cool, nice to have a rep on the forums.

Welcome

Very wise step from Gigabyte in regards to marketing activities and increase of sales and a very welcome one for us owners (and I guess I speak for all the Gigabyte owners out here).
Btw I also wrote you some issues that I am having through a conversation, how do you in general intend to participate in the topics? should we raise questions directly or raise them in according threads and then just invite you to view them? -
Hmm well Gigabyte joined and went AFK... sad

Hi there,
needs some advice here re p34w v3 from spring 2015.
Suddenly bezel split at the bottom right.
From the beginning had laptop wobbling.
Now even when doing office work, fans are on which was not the case when new as it was really idle.
I am base on the UK, how long will it take for a repair ?
May I just ask they keep this one and exchange with the V5 (it is okay if I have to pay some extras) -

Hello,
I am baffled by what your Gigabyte partner told me as they see these issues as chargeable repairs...
How is that possible when these problems are very well known quality issues with this product ?
Could you confirm it will be taken in charge within the warranty? -
Hey Gigabyte, good to have you here. Well, I have a question regarding the P55W v5 machine. It is mentioned in the site in Xotic PC that the laptop will be having 1.1 inch (28mm) in thickness and battery capacity of 75.81Wh which is contradicting with the details on the official page in gigabyte.com (thickness: 34mm, battery: 63Wh). Could you enlighten me?

Personally, it would be highly appreciated if the P55 series of laptops can be equiped with the specs shown in Xotic PC page. Perfect size and battery life~
Thanks in advance. -
Unfortunately, it seems like you get a smaller battery with the P55W, refering to this test:

Well, that's a v4, I was hoping that the latest P55Wv5 might have some improvements...

Hi Lesteph
I had exactly the same issues which were repaired under warranty. First, my right hinge snapped causing horrendous screen flex. This was repaired by MendIT which is the authorised Gigabyte repair centre in the UK (as far as I know). Then when I got it back, after a couple of hours use, a complete motherboard failure. That went back to MendIT on the 25th Nov and I got it back today. Guess what.... More issues. After a motherboard replacement, now the machine fires up but hits 90c when booting and crashes if I try to load a game or do anything slightly strenuous.
I've owned many laptops over the years and sure, some have had issues but I've never had anything like this. I have lost all faith in this machine, I have owned it for 6 months and 2 of those it has spent in repair and it is about to go back.
At this rate I will run out of warranty before I get a consistently working machine. For £1100 (plus an extra £200 for an SSD and RAM upgrade), I expected better than this.
I should have bought a Dell......... -
You can still return it if you got it from amazon.
-
I didn't get it from Amazon, unfortunately.
I'm in the UK and bought it from Overclockers UK
-
Your experience is quit scary and I hope mine will no turns like yours.
Been notified that it will under waranty but the laptop is at Mendit since near one month. BtW, Mendit not the best in term of PR, I hope they better in tech.
Let's see what apen, I'll update my experience -
Hmm i see, i would still contact them about this though. I hope shops like overclockers UK might put some pressure on Gigabyte to improve the quality to an acceptable level.
-
Absolutely, I'm all over it... I have the chap at OCUK on Gigabyte's back though I've not heard anything from them yet. Thing is, mentally, I'm done with this thing. I've pulled the trigger on an Alienware 15.... Most of my previous laptops have been Dell (Latitudes and Precisions) and solid so I'm looking forward to it.
I will sell the P34 or get it replaced and sell that. In future I will be considerably more cautious when looking at Gigabyte Laptops. What a shame.... -
I felt the same way as you about it. Its a shame because I like the concept of a thin and light but powerful laptop to bring with me daily. But it just wasnt durable and stable enough. Hopefully you will have more luck with the AW15 too as I had.
-
My thoughts exactly, great on paper but real world use quickly shows it's weaknesses.
I just noticed you also have an AW15, how do you find it in comparison to the P34 performance-wise. I found one in the Dell Outlet, same spec as yours but with 16GB, 512GB SSD and 1TB 7200RPM storage drive... -
The Gigabyte was only stable for me when I undervolted it and turned all cores down to a max of 26x, still the machine was much louder, less fast than the AW15. The AW15 is bigger but it is able to hold the full turbo boost for 24/7 and I even could overclock the GPU while the fans are less noisy and kept the temperatures always below 80c.
-
Awesome, that's pretty much in line with my research but its nice to hear from someone who has had the same machine. I've read about people comfortably overclocking the gpu, have you re-pasted your AW15?
Anyway, I'm pretty off topic now so I'll probably see you in the AW forums!
Thanks for your feedback. -
I havent repasted it or modified it in anyway. Didnt even open the machine. It worked well out of the box. See you in the AW forum!
-
It is always nice to see the company actually talk with their consumers.
-
I am new to this fantastic forum where i see many people helping each other out with out any self interest, i am a newbie here and i apologies in advance for any mistakes i might make here .....
