Didn't even realize they had one without IPS
-

I really do hope the prices are that cheap.
 -
Haha the second config is a hundred bucks cheaper than the base config of the P34G? Ah that'll be the day

"To find a roughly estimated price for the US, one can divide the price by ten, which gives us these prices:"
You cannot simply convert them and find the realistic price for the USA because of the different income and taxation.
The general rule to find a rough estimate is as listed.
From Norwegian prices to American (roughly): NOK / 10
From American prices to Norwegian (roughly): USD x 10
I hope it is clearer now

A real example:
Razer Kraken 7.1 US price from the Razer Store, Amazon and Best Buy: 99.99$
Razer Kraken 7.1 NO price from the Norwegian stores: ranging from 895 NOK to 934 NOK (web stores in Norway usually sell with a smaller margin, but the brick and mortar stores sell them for up to 999 NOK)
I will buy the P35K when it becomes available, so we'll see what the price will be, but Norwegian online stores seldom list prices and adjust them later

So I found this on Excaliberpc, P35K and P34G MSRP, scroll down a bit.
Seems that the P35K-CF1 is going to be $1399 and that will have a 750 GB 5400 RPM HDD, 8 GB of RAM, IPS display, 9.5 mm ODD. So it is going to be the same price as P34G-CF1 which is also $1399. Maybe we could ask Xoticpc to take out the msata ssd from the P34G-CF1 to reduce the cost? -
 Good find.
I want to bet a million dollars that you can pre-order come tomorrow, but I don't think anyone is going to get this laptop till late October now. -
Yeah, I get the same impression from the OCUK:
It's the only thing stopping me from pre-ordering. -

I made a post about this a while back but AntaresPro has had the P35K listed at $1367.99 for about a month. That suggests that the MSRP is $1399.99. Upper CF2 model has been $1559.99
GIGABYTE P35K-CF1 Gigabyte NB P35K-CF1 15.6 i7-4700HQ 8G 750G GTX765M 9.5mm DVD W8 on AntaresPro.com

I pre-ordered the IPS version with Visa, so I got it for 12.995 NOK
When compared to the US prices you found, this is a bargain when considering other laptops and the price differences in US vs. EU. They are suuposed to ship it the 15th, but that is just something that they have listed for a long time. It might be earlier or later.

I have the W350ST/NP7352 (I7 4700mq/GTX 765m) and I cant get my 765m to even get to 70 c. Even overclocked to the max that Afterburner allows (+135 I believe) it still hovers around 67 c running Uniengine for quite a bit of time. This chip just runs so cool (and overclocks like a beast too. fully stable at max overclock and a good +200 on memory too)
 -

Different systems use different cooling solutions, other systems with the 765m have been shown to run hot (clevo w230st, razer blade). Although it is encouraging to hear that the chipset is capable of running cool.
 -

With Gigabyte you know it is going to be "later" rather than "earlier" LOL
 -

I say pre-order by the end of this week is more likely. You know how Gigabyte is. When you think it is sooner, it always ends up being later.

so I found this : 15" Laptop Phantasus P35K Dual Storage Lite DDR3 8GB Core i7 No OS | eBay Not sure what to make of it

Also found another review (you have to translate it as usual) http://gameplayer.mabee88.com/QKNEWS.aspx?id=286
This one still has the blocked out thunderbolt, and other than that it just shows pictures of the screen while playing skyrim, no video

I'm just gonna drop the hammer on the W230ST.. The only con I can see is that the fans get a tad bit loud randomly, however that is supposedly due to a bios flaw according to W230st owners, something that can easily be fixed with an update.. I also heard that it doesn't run as hot @zipykido as you say it to be. Owners say it runs "warm" as in 85 max.. I think thats a pretty good temp for a 13.3" single fanned laptop.. Whilst it is kind of thick I don't really mind, as long as its light (2kg is not heavy for those who think it is
) My total price for it comes to $1469 AUD with a 1TB 7200rpm HDD, win8, 8gb ram, i7 4700mq, gtx 765m. Would prefer to get ssd and have the OS installed on that, but I don't have the money atm..

This is starting to boil my urine.
Why issue release dates when they still have no idea when / if they will be met.
OCUK have pushed the date back to 08/11/13 (from 04/10/13) - without advising pre-orders I hasten to add.
What are the alternatives for machines which are not doorstops & freely available? -

Dammit Gigabyte...seems like the P34G for the UK also got pushed back. I am going to hope that it doesn't happen everywhere else but most likely will.
      -

The p34g is in stock at various resellers already for the US. Still no word about the p35k though. Since it was announced at $1.4k I figure the price is worth the wait for the bigger screen. We'll see if I'm wrong or not though.
 -
US might get the P35K sooner than I thought the P34G came into stock yesterday at excaliberpc,
And today OC UK pushed back the P34G and P35K ETA over a month. (November 11th)
Also judging how excaliberpc also put a comparison chart on the P34G product page, I'd have to say that they are expecting stock soon.
Then again every time I've expected something from gigabyte it has only gotten delayed so I'll shut up and pray instead. -

If this Australian site also push their date from October 3rd to November as well, I think it pretty much means the US is most likely getting it in November also.
 -

This is frustrating.
I've been waiting for this laptop since July...
I think I'll just order a P34G from the US, it's impossible to get in the UK. -
 Still says October 3rd.
 -

Think I'm going to bail and get a w230st. Not ideal, but I predict some harsh teething problems with the p35k.

Seriously contemplating the Battalion M1771... but 17 inches is iffy
 -

After owning 2 17" computers I can tell you it's not worth it unless it's a (semi)permanent desktop replacement. They just don't fit in backpacks comfortably unless your backpack is really wide. I think 15" is the correct compromise unless you have an external at work and at home, in which case 14" and below is fine.
 -

It really is unfortunate, these delays. That said, perhaps some other contenders might show up in the meantime; competition is nice but there does not seem to be another right now to fill these shoes.
 -

Dynamism sells it with shipments on October 14th
Dynamism - GIGABYTE P34G
Sadly it has glossy screen -

Guys I has exciting news the P35K is going to come with its own laptop sleeve woooo!
 -

I highly doubt there are two versions with different screens. I have a feeling that dynamism is correct in calling it a glossy screen as they also have the display as AHVA.
 -

Great new. Xoticpc has the P35K up for pre-order.
 -

Yikes, matte screen upgrade is another $165. I wonder if there are any promos from xotic that would knock a few more bucks off of the price. Also there should be a bunch of game promos. If you buy the w230st from cyberpower pc you get grid 2, batman arkham, tom clancy's splinter cell blacklist, and the NVIDIA Free To Play Phase 2 game coupon. Grid 2 comes free with any haswell processor and the others come with the video card.
 -

I notice that there are is no option to add an optical or blue-ray drive for either the CF1 nor the CF2 models. The P35K is suppose to have a hot swappable HDD/ODD. Why does Xoticpc not have that option? I was thinking of pre-ordering the P35K with a 250-256 GB SSD then when SDD's becomes cheaper, buy a larger capacity SSD to swap into the swappable HDD/ODD bay. There is not even an option to buy the caddy for the P35K. There is however an option to add a second hard drive right now but that would be too pricey for me.
 -

Not sure if typo on the xoticpc website... but the P35k CF-1 is also $1399 for the base model... So you can pretty much purchase the P35k base model for the exact same price as the P34g... Seems legitimate..
 -

to any Aussies who purchase from the affordablelaptops.com.au website, expect prices to be around $2000. Theyre selling the high end base model only, with the same specs as the p34g, 256gb ssd and 16gb ram. If we were able to down grade, we could probs get price down to around 1400, however thats probably not allowed due to that voiding warranty shizniz.
 -
If I am not mistaken the swappable ODD comes with the laptop along with the caddy for adding HDD instead. Check the review here: æåP35Ké»ç«¶çé»éç®±å享, 15.6åå §æé», 髿è½, 大容éåé¡ç¡¬ç¢ - Sinchen 3Cé¨è½æ ¼

Just ordered an Asus N550 today haha
Cancelled it and pre-ordered over at XoticPC, even though they still haven't given an ETA...
*sigh* -

Just pre-ordered a P35K-CF1. Cancellations are easy at XoticPC if Gigabyte again fails to deliver on time
 -

hi, man. have you ever read the review from cnet? here's the link : Gigabyte P35K Review - Laptop & Notebook computers
their conclusion is
The Good and Bad
i'm wondering how did these guys know that? i'm not good at graphic cards, but i'm quite sure that GTX 765M is strong enough to handle today's game. i really interested at p35k, but the review make me quite ... yeah confuse and doubt. thanks for any responses, man
      -

It's one of the worst reviews I've read.
I'd say the 765 is middle not entry, but anyway... -

I just ordered the CF1 from XOTIC PC.
I added an SSD and some RAM, and I am future proofing my Laptop by adding the AC wifi. -

Just as an FYI, both the stock and optional display are matte. The difference is, the stock screen is IPS and the optional screen is TN LED back-lit with wide colour gamut.
 -
What do you mean wide colour gamut? And/or where did you get that info from?
 -

So the stock IPS screen has better viewing angles, but if you want a wider color gamut, you need to go with the TN screen with worse viewing angles?
      -

Guys, that's just a stock screen that they offer for all of their laptops, I wouldn't think too much of it.
I would take IPS over TN. -

^ Pretty much this. Sorry I didn't get into more detail but the point I meant to get across was that it wasn't worth paying the "upgrade" price to go from an IPS panel to a TN panel. It's not to say that there aren't terrible IPS panels out there to the point where a TN can't match or beat in quality but I simply cannot fathom that being the case with this laptop. Mentioned it because I saw a reply earlier with someone fretting over having to pay to get a matte screen, which is not necessarily the case.
This info is for the most part available on the Gigabyte p35k preorder page @ xoticpc
Placed my preorder for the p35k-cf2. I spoke with a xoticpc rep and they are still sorting out the whole optical disk drive (internal) option. We will be able to modify our preorders once they get that sorted with Gigabyte. -

Haswell refresh of the Dell XPS 15 was announced today. Full specs haven't been released yet, but it looks pretty good. I believe it should be available by mid-October.
 -

Is this the standard 4700 processor? Or is it the less powerful one?
How do you think this will compare build wise to a clevo/sager?
Thanks!! -

 Dell refreshes the XPS 13 and 15 with Haswell, the 15 has a 3,200 x 1,800 display
Yea I don't even know if they are catering to the same market. They have very little in common..
1920x1080 vs 3200x1800 (Not everyone likes super high res and subsequently, even with an nvidia/AMD solution, that's going to be hard to drive in games; so it's by default not really a gaming laptop by any means)
full keyboard vs compact keyboard
2+2 storage option vs 1+1 (from what I can tell so far)
