    $175 to upgrade T5450 (1.66ghz/667mhz/2mb) to T8300 (2.4ghz/800mhz/3mb).

This is for a laptop with:
    8400M GS
    2gb RAM
    160gb 7200rpm HD

Would you recommend the $175 processor upgrade? The most computer intensive activity I do is light gaming.

    My thoughts:
    - T5450 is already more than a match for the 8400M in games.
    - T8300 is the new Penryn and will give extra 5% - 10% battery life.

    Gracias.

    That's tough.

If it was a T9300, I'd probably say go for it, but you can probably get a T8300 for less sometime down the line. So I'm leaning towards no in this case.

You don't need it with what you say you need. But I would do it, it is a lot more CPU.
