Hey everyone!![]()
I have the alienware m7700a clevo chassis laptop.
The #2 fan is malfunctioning. That is the largest fan out of 4.
when I power up and use the fn+f2 to speed them all up the #2 fan "twitches" but dont run. I was told it could be a bearing or race.
Anyway, The manuel doesnt give steps on replacing the fan as far as its not the smaller individual "lid" to remove, the access to this fan would be cracking the main part of the case. ok.
once that is done, would there be a posssibility of repairing the fan?
or, has anyone have any suggestions where I could look for a replacement, or I would need to just run the serials through search and find someone whois holding?
also Im not using a cooling pad right now, with the 3 working fans set at max speed would it be ok to use the laptop? or would it be too risky untill it is repaired?

Welcome to the NBR forums.
That is a re-branded Clevo D900K you have there... I have the same one.
When was the last time you opened up your system to do a thorough cleaning of the vents and fans (with compressed air and Q-tips)?
.. if never, then your fan's bearing might have gotten clogged with condensed dust.
I did go over how to revive a dying fan:
Clevo D900F (aka. Sager NP9280) – 4th Fan Modification (and reviving a dying fan)
you can try my method of reviving the fan, and see if that helps... if not.
K-Tron is selling many parts of that exact notebook here:

I have an extra set of fans for the clevo D900T/D900K/Alienware M7700
The problem you have is either generated because a fan has burned out, or one of the fan controllers has fried. It could also be a loose cable, but thats pretty easy to spot.
Send me a PM
