I have an old Dell E6400 that has a 1600x900 crappy TN matte panel.

I read ages ago that it is possible to mod it to have better screen like an IPS but cannot find that thread anymore.

can anyone show a guide on how to mod the screen or atleast give the part no. for the better screen?

    thank!

I think it's unlikely there's an IPS LCD available for the E6400, but the E6400 owners thread is probably the best place to get that kind of information.

AFAIK that is a misconception you don't get LCD panels that you want only what at that time was made from the manufacture is what your limited to. Crappy LCD or not you limited to what they designed for the LCD at that time. Want better IPS get a newer laptop that has that option older laptop don't have that option only higher LCD model is it had one but your at 1600x900 and that most likely is the extent of the LCD tech.
