I have a Sony Vaio "VGN-SZ75GN", "Model PCG-6WFP".
It is an "overseas model" which I bought at a Sony Style Store in Tokyo a few days ago. I like this laptop very much, however it came with only 1 GB of RAM.
I want to upgrade to 4 GB.
I would like to know which RAM I need to buy and which will work for this laptop; I don't understand anything about laptop RAM, are there different form factors? How can I know if a certain RAM will work in this laptop or not? I read the article at
http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=4542
which was very enlightening but I still don't know how to find out model numbers or whatever to actually buy the RAM.
I asked at the shop where I bought the laptop, and also at Yodobashi camera, but they would not sell me additional RAM. Yes, I know it sounds weird but as soon as they realized from my laptop model number that it's an overseas model, they immediately switched to "no support"-mode. Try arguing with a Japanese sales clerk when he's in no support mode.
I could imagine the RAM for Japanese domestic models works anyway?
I would be thankful if someone could explain me how I can find out, which RAM do I need. Also, if you have a recommendation where to buy that RAM in Japan (I live here) that would be great. Thanks!

I highly recommend avoiding Yodobashi etc they usually have the highest prices around except for on Rakuten.co.jp
for the ram you need I believe everest free edition tells you what kind of ram you have.
