915PM/GM implies you have a Socket 479 machine. You can only use flavors of Pentium M, though 400MHz FSB and 500MHz FSB units will both work. The T2300 and all dual-core processors will not work.

I don't think so it is socket 479 and 2300 is socket M. But I am not 100% sure. I could do better if I knew what CPU you have? I assume Pentium-M?

The 915 chipset used the Pentium M processors, so it will not work. 945 chipset used the first Core Duos and Core 2 Duos, with the 965 chipset using the Core 2 Duo's currently available.

The fastest processor you will EVER be able to get is the Pentium M 770, which is just NOT worth the upgrade. No single core processor is worth upgrading, since they are so old and so expensive you are better off buying a new laptop.

but that's 2.13 greg dont u think it will give me a noticable difference?
at least for cpu intensive tasks
how comparable is the Pentium M 2.13 to the T2300??
    just wanted to ask
and ya ive gone quickly through eBay and ya it's expensive
but let's say am curious :)

you haven't provided any info on the CPU you have now.
Noticeable is a relative thing, it depends on what you do with the machine.
Possible to have other bottlenecks as well that would drag the performance of the machine down.

you can also get a 400Mhz FSB Pentium M and pin-mod it for higher clocks
