i have the lenovo y510p with windows 8, 2 gpu's, 16GB, and haswell. I can't seem to boot my laptop from my SSD (samsung 830 pro).I cloned everything from the 1TB HDD to my SSD with a program called "paragon device manager" and it said my SSD should be working now and gave me instructions on how to boot from it. I tried, but to my dismay it doesn't work. Any ideas?

Assuming here that you put your SSD at the top of the boot order list and that there are no other bootable devices internally or externally?
Did your boot partition get copied over too? Sometimes there is a problem with this when cloning. -

I think but not sure (don't have W8.x here), USB device would need to be at the top of the list to boot from there, because of the hand off from efi system partition. You would probably need to try disabling other internal drives.

Dug this up: Windows To Go: Feature Overview
Seems like you might need to do some things to make it externally bootable, otherwise swap out the internal drives. -

assuming you are going to put the SSD into your laptop anyway why not try to see if its bootable as in internal harddrive
booting from the USB port is not possible unless your copy of windows 8 is an enterprise version
