Is it safe to enable advanced performance for an SSD on a notebook?
Also, is it still safe, if I say have to hard shutdown by pressing on powerkey (after enabling advanced performance)? Is there a chance of corrupting files? I am having problems with vista sleep so I tend to hard shutdown a lot.

that setting is an os specific setting, so it's independent on the drive. (but i've read it even enables drive/raidcontrollers to do more write-caching, too, if their drivers care. but i've just heard that).
so yes, data loss on powerout will be the same no matter if it's a hdd or an ssd.
but the dataloss normally is minimal/nonexistend except if you powerdown while your apps are still open and around.
so far, all it did in my case was some diskcheck, where it found some wrong ntfs-entries which it then corrected. no data was ever lost by itself, only the ntfs filesystem wasn't in the most actual clean state. -

Maybe it`s the same as advanced writes for hdd`s where it buffers data in memory before writing, but if your computer crashes you risk loosing data.

jup it's exactly that. and it's buffered in the os => disk independent. (except for cases where a raidcontroller or diskcontroller can rethink it's buffering due to the setting, too.. if that exists.. i've read it on the interwebl that it does exist.. you know
)

So for my case of having to hard shutdown with powerkey due to vista sleep issues, is setting advanced performance a good idea?

best idea would be to fix the sleep issue
other than that, no, i guess, in your case, it may be not that much of a good idea. but dunno.. hard to say. i don't care much about the on-notebook data as i have it all backed up on my home server => i have it enabled, yes.. -
I also don't want it to not bootup over time cause I messed some important file up or something. -
the irony is when i enable advanced performance, it has problems resuming from sleep.
but when it's disabled, waking up is no problems.
