    There is no such thing as a company specific memory, it's just marketing. Just make sure you have the same type of memory (ie. DDR2 to DDR2 or DDR3 to DDR3).

    As stated it's not really Lenovo specific, it's just that that particular part number is certified/guaranteed to work with the listed Lenovo models. What usually happens is that there will be several such part numbers, for different brands, but they all end up referring to the same part in the end.

    From that link, it seems like that RAM module is a 2GB PC8500 DDR3 1066MHz stick. The Toshiba U300 uses DDR2 RAM, I believe, so no, it will not be compatible.
