i just got an e1505 with an intel core duo. does the processor switch on its own, like depending on load, or is it just depending on if its plugged in or not? earlier it was at 1.6 unplugged and it made me curious

It will down clock itself under low-load to preserver battery life. It will also work off only one core for the same reason under low-load. You could always test it, if you want to be sure. Just run a bunch of applications, and watch it react.
-
well right now i only have mozilla open and its running at 1.6. shouldnt it clock down? should i just use NHC and keep it on dynamic switch for better battery life?
-
this is really wierd...NHC is saying my cpu is running at 800mhz, but i8kfan and windows is saying it is 1.6. What is giong on? NHC is on dynamic switch. Im not plugged in
-
i8k has different cpu speed reporting modes. Which one are you using?
It's in i8k -> Options -> Status Reading. Try switching CPU speed reporting mode to realtime. -
I had this problem with RM clock here. Basically windows is stupid and doesnt know whats going on. Trust CPUZ and NHC or RM Clock - they are right.
-
I use NHC and no problems with it. I recomend it to everybody that owns a notebook. When it goes on battery -> Max battery performance, when is plugged-> Dynamic switch or max performance ( only when playing games or doing something that I know that requires power)
-
what concerned me was that i8kfan and NHC were conflicting, but now that i have it set on realtime they are both the same...says it even gets down to like 371 or somethin like that
-
if you set your processor to be "max performace" at all times would that make it overhead or get hotter quickeR?

Tim
?'s about processor speed
