    The major components are

    AMD athlon2 p320 socket S1
    8gb 1066mhz ram
    Radeon 4250m
    250gb HDD

I dont have the money to buy a new sytem right now but am wondering if i could add a better CPU and graphics card. and perhaps an SSD.

Is the anyone that sells AMD socket S1 cpu?

    Thanks guys

Unless your manufacturer whitelists CPU's in the BIOS, I see no reason. When I had my brother's Dell Inspiron M5030, I upraded the Sempron V140 to a Phenom II N620 dual core with no major issues (minus a ton of heat coming out from the side now).

Some (most) manufacturers "Whitelist" specified hardware in the BIOS, making it so your computer refuses to boot or use the Whitelisted hardware.

It's a way for the manufacturer to limit what you put in your machine.

Whitelisted items include WWAN, WLAN, and other PCI-e cards or add-ons not approved by the manufacturer.

HP and Lenovo whitelist WLAN cards in the BIOS. Old school Lenovo's whitelist CPU's unless you had Middleton's BIOS for the _61 series ThinkPads. I think the whitelist issue isn't so big, minus WLAN.

I knew someone was going to say that.
I can be perfectly content in a room until I know the door is locked.

Let me guess, they say its for our own good? I hate it when manufacturers do that. It reminds me of those nanny computers on cars.
