I'm trying to decide between the two...1 gig from Dell is $60 extra, which makes it about $48 after coupon, but I could also just go with the one stick of 512 and wait for a deal on 1 Gig sticks...they're too expensive![]()
However, the E1405 I'm ordering soon only has GMA950 for graphics, so I'd probably need over 512 soon.
Thanks

Get the cheapest ram that you can buy from Dell. Then go on www.newegg.com and get at least 1GB of ram. That would be my suggestion.

The problem is that I assume you only have two slots. If you want 2 gigs in the future, you will obviously need 2 sticks. Therefore, if you get the 512mb from Dell, you'll have to scrap the stick to go for 2gb. Granted, 2gb is usually overkill unless you're gaming or editing, but it is pertinent since you mentioned that size.
I'd say just get the 1gb. That should hold you over for awhile, it's not that much more than aftermarket. -
Mmh, going with 1.5 gigs seems like a decent idea; they're like 80-90 bucks each though. I mean, who cares if its not dual channel when I've got an extra 512...
And I wouldn't be doing any serious gaming (I mean, my video card limits me), but maybe some Photoshopping and a lot of multitasking at the most, but nothing thats overkill on my current P4 Desktop with 512 megs -
Yeah I would go the 1.5GB route. DDR2 really doesn't do all that much.

Aight.
So I save about 45 bucks on Dell, then spend another 80
1 Gig ram now or 512mb and up to 2 gigs
