    Hi all

Can anyone explaine me the difference in performance:

    1,60GHz Intel® Core™ DUO T2330 (dual core)
    and
    1,86 GHz Intel® Celeron® M 540 (single core)

the 1,60GHz Intel® Core™ DUO are a bit more expensive. but is it worth chosing (its around 35 $ more expensive)

for $35, i would go for the dual core in a second. An additional core makes a big difference these days even when doing general work, the OS is more responsive and you can do more concurrently with minimal slowdown (depending on what you're doing, of course).
Battery life will be better with the T2330 as well since it has EIST.
In single core apps, the Celeron M should turn out a wee bit faster but I wouldn't worry as most apps now are moving to using multiple threads.

But what about the difference between

    1.66 GHz Intel C2 DUO T5450 667MHz 2MB
    and
    1,60 GHz Intel® Core DUO T2330 533MHZ 1MB

is the 1.66 really 75 $ more worth?

For gaming and apps probably for everydaytasks not a chance.

0,06ghz is unnoticaeble FSB is faster only by a margin and it has a 2 mb cache vs 1mb over all it may in some applications be up to 20% faster but in most things no more than 5%
If you were however talking about t7250 or t7100 than i would definitely make the jump. But in this occasion no its too much to be worth it. Unless you game much and the laptop is equipped with pc5300 ram.

If you plan putting more than 3 gb on this notebook and running a 64bit OS, then the it is the only way. The core 2 duo are also a bit faster than a coreduo with the same frequency, fsb and cache, specially in floating point calculations.

The T2330 is a Merom core and is a C2D running at 533/ 1 MB Cache. However it's marketed as a "Dual Core".....not to be confused with the inefficient "Dual Cores-Pentium(Yonah)" of old. It will run 64 bit programs and runs at about the same speed as the T5450. I have read that the T5450 will get you better battery life than the T2330....but this is based on poster's reviews and opinions. However, most tests reveal almost identical speeds..

If you have the money then go for the T5450. If not, the T2330 is a GREAT middle ground to go with. Also, if your applications are word processing, email, etc the Celeron will be fine. But like I said, and someone else mentioned, think of the future and the advantages of having X2 chips, 64 bit apps, etc.

Go for the core duo, its worth the extra money to get two cores and the battery life will be a little better.
