Will 1.5 grams of thermal paste (IC Diamond 7) be enough to cover the CPU dies (Intel core i5) and two sides of a copper shim (that will go over the GPU). I think it should be enough, but I just wanted to get a second opinion before I place an order for the thermal paste.

Yes, it will probably last for at least 6 applications I'd say.

Its not enough for me I get the as5 12g stuff :) but I have way too much stuff to test.

If you're judicious, 1.5g of TIM will last you through 8 or 9 small laptop cores, maybe 3 or 4 large desktop cores. If you over-apply or do "test runs" where you wipe all the paste off, you'll probably use the entire tube or have just a smidgen left.

For comparison, I've have a 3.5g tube of AS5 since 2003 that's been used on 3 small die desktop cores, 2 medium sized die, heatsinks for all of them, as well as 3 laptop cores and heatsinks. I'm fairly careful, so the plunger is only a bit more than halfway in (as far as my eye can tell)
