I've had 2 Seagate external hard drives fail on me in less than 6 months and it had the clicking/rotating sound of death every 5 seconds. However, my internal Seagate hard drive has lasted for 2 years already.

I think that is why on Black Friday lots of external Seagate hard drives were on sale by retailers because nobody really wants to buy them over Western Digital.

i did just get in my 2TB western digital that i bought for 90 bucks. It's weird when i pick it up it moves...like there is a balancer in it? Thing is also heavy as can be.

also i just like got that 1.5TB is 50 bucks...its might tempting even though its a refurb

I would by refurb almost anything but not a HDD. Ask yourself if I lost the data on the drive would I be unhappy then make the decision.

Would you buy a refurbished processor or refurbished motherboard? Or a refurbished power supply? No thanks

i have had a lot of good luck with refurb stuff in the past....hardrive is an area i haven't gone into yet with refurb... I'll admit it doesn't sound very intissing about getting a refurb drive but for 50 bucks that's not bad

Sure 50 bucks isn't bad but the RMA fees will surpass the cost of the drive I bet!

Not only wouldn't I buy Seagate brand new, a refurbished Seagate drive?! I'd try my luck with the Mega Million lottery thank you very much.

lol. i have used seagate for years and never had a problem. But yea i decided to not buy it. I'll have to wait. i got other things i need to do. also that WD drive is weird...it has like gyros in it. When it changes positions it moves around. Also its heavy as a cinder block and slow lol but it was cheap ^^

I have bought Seagate for years as well. Just not the recent ones as the bad experience with my friend with 10 1.5 TB drives.

Which 2 TB WD external you have? I have a 1 TB Green (EADS) and 1.5TB Green (EARS). Both are silent, as well as run 10-15C cooler than my Caviar Blue and 20-25C cooler than my Caviar Black.
