hi im looking at buying a acer aspire and it has a core 2 duo 1.5ghz, 1 gb ram and 120gb hdd in it. now i know that a core 2 duo is good but im not sure about 1.5ghz. would this be a good laptop for me to go on the internet and go on msn ? ill do a little bit of photoshop a very little bit, and listen to itunes and do some dvd burning. so do you think 1.5ghz is ok?

wat does ghz actually do anyway?

    thanks

    It should be Okay.
Giga Hertz(oftain abbreviated GHz) is the clock speed of the CPU. This along with the architecture, cache & other features determine the CPus overall performance.

It will be slower significantly from say one @ 2GHz but, its fine for your needs.

    It would take a 2.0ghz AMD Turion x2 to match a 1.5ghz Core2Duo so no......a 1.5ghz core2Duo is not slow at all.

It's more than enough to do email, surf the web, do occasional photo editing, and do everything else you listed.

The descrepancy between AMD and Intel is not that much. I'd have to recheck to be sure, but I'd guess a 1.66 AMD = a 1.5 Intel, closer at times depending on the application. It's certainly not a 4:3 Intel:AMD Performance:MHz ratio.

You need to believe in the Megahertz Myth a bit more!

That cpu will be more than powerful enough for your needs.
