I have a Samsung Q30, and the 40GB hard drive is about 10GB less than I need. That's why I want to upgrade to 60GB. The current HDD is a 1.8" Toshiba MK4004GAH. I have found a 60GB drive, but it's a MK600 8GAH. This means it has a ZIF connector instead of an ATA. It's relatively cheap too, only 105 Euros.

Can I still use it or do I have to find a MK6004GAH?

edit: also, if there are any other hard drives that will definitely work, please tell me.

The ZIF connector is a ribbon cable used in some MP3 players in order to reduce size. It is not compatible with a standard ATA connector. I think the MK6006GAH would be asuitable replacement for the MK4004GAH. You can see the full range of Toshiba 1.8" HDDs at http://www.span.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=23_504_1801.

The Hitachi 1.8" 60GB HDD seems to be too thick. It also seems that Seagate 1.8" 60GB HDDs will be arriving soon, but have a lower rpm.

    Hope this helps,

    John
